Could the clicking be exhaust manifold,
Does it stop when warm?

It goes away after about a minute.
How could it be the manifold?? Any ideas are better than me taking the chain cover off.

The standard cast ones are prone to cracking down between cylinders 2 & 3, take the heat shield of fans it will be pretty obvious if it is cracked

Will a cracked manifold cause a ticking for a few minutes then disappear?.

broken stud was mine ive never had a pre cat so would never get the cracked manifold
and i think you have the manicat

I had one crack with a the pre cat on and one cracked after I de pre cat'd it.

They tick when cold but once metal warms up and expands it closes the gap

Right ok. That sounds better than chains or anything to do with the chains.

So I need to get the heat shield off the manifold and hopefully it will be staring me in the face. So next thing is if it is cracked. Mines got the cat in it so I will need a new cat/manifold as carl says a manicat, is that a technical name for it? Hahaha if it is its a good name

Is precast not in first pipe rather than manifold
If not just get rid of it

Im 99% sure I have just a cat(no precat)

And its just in the manifold(I think anyway)

My MOTs arnt rate stricked so I might just gamble a decat manifold. N run with no cat if it is the manifold thats at fault.

Pre cat is after manifold so just replace the manifold and you'll be fine

Just bin looking on ebay and by the looks of it you are right @[deleted]. I have a manicat.

so just looking for a new manicat
Direct replacement brand new is £144
but a decat 4into1 performance manifold for a astra g is £244

but then I have eml problems and mot problems. Advise please?. If it is a crack in the manifold this is hahaha
