turns out these are sent from some clown in lithuania with a misleading advert about item location and product advertised. i see trouble ahead could cause some delays of work needing done
Best not to gamble on an unheard of product i think. although they do look alright , but i have no prior experience of fitting piston rings so cant really compare

Bit silly but i just found another pic of a Riken box with an Arco product sticker on so possibly the same product

How much oil your z22se uses? 1 liter on how many miles?

On this moment my Z22se engine use 1 liter oil 5w40 Kroon on 1300KM (807miles). :wtf: My engine runs very good with good power. The only problem i got is the Z22se engine use to much of oil.
What can i do for the oil problem?

put the right grade oil in 🙂 10/40 gm/delco oil 🙂

I am using 1 litre to 100 miles which i am currently traveling everyday mostly motorway miles .So there is a lot of high revs going on which does not help,
For 1 week i went easier on the revs and did notice the oil lasting longer so i think this itself points to piston rings. I have newish valve stem seals less than 2 years old so i know it can not be them
I have probably 95% of the time used 10w/40 oil when needed. Last week i changed oil to 0w/40 its too thin. This was a bad move for me because the engine used it up in just short of 250 miles which meant i got 1 litre to 50 miles worth of driving .
I know i need to renew piston rings as the car is over 150 000 miles . It would be wise to do it at this stage of engine life. It also could possibly be what is wrong with your car @[deleted] . You do not say what year your car is or mileage
I am sure Vocky & Carlos have said in other threads that it is roughly 1 litre of oil per 1000 - 1200 miles would be considered normal although Vauxhall say 2000 miles to 1 litre of oil would be expected or something like that
It is possible i have another leak somewhere ,recently put new rocker cover gasket, checked daily for a few days no leaks evident so it seemed fine , last time topped up engine looks a little wet around rocker gasket and a pool of oil sitting on top of the gearbox and generally seems more wet down that side of the engine , it cant all be from a little overspill when topping engine up , still not had the chance yet for a thorough investigation , will need to wash down engine first to pinpoint. it could well be the rocker cover gasket again but i am not sure

@IDIamin, My car has almost now 200.000KM (124274 miles) drived. My engine is clean from the outside. I cant see any oil
leeks. The only problem i have is that i found oil within the air intake. My tb is normal.
Why almost everyone use 10w40 oil. The program i use autodata end Opel Tis says 5w40 is recommanded.
But 10w40 is also possible.

if you change the oil to gm/delco 10/40 oil you will see less oil consumption over 1000 miles
the 5/40 was not used till the z22se in the vectra c and the gm 5/40 is rubbish it too thin a better branded 5/40 oil would be a better choice but i would say try the 10/40 1st 🙂

@[deleted]. Thx for the informatie. But i use now a good brand of 5w40 Kroon oil. It seem to be very good brand off Oil. Can i change oil 5w40 too 10w40 without any problem?
My engine has the 5w40 oil from the beginning says the service menual form my car.

So i am knee deep in cylinder head work got the head off a short time ago couple pics the head aint too clever some heavy carbon building up again in less than 2 years . not sure if it is down to over fueling if anyone has a few pointers it would be good

And another little problem i have encountered .Typical... #
Last time i done chain work i overtightened a few of the cam carrier cap bolts 1 is stuck in the head a bit of e z out to fix hopefully , i used the 1/2" torque wrench cause thats all i had at the time and i was a little over zealous . I knew there was 1 i heard crack but just kind of hoped it would be ok and to be honest forgot about it a long time ago i have another head at my uncles workplace so will need to make a trip tomorrow don't think you can buy them new from vauxhall if anyone knows better then tell me .

Surprised the cams have held together to be honest

I'm off to get the pistons out and hopefully hone the bores before its too dark.
Any tips about above dilemmas would be good

Not sure what you paid for the set of piston rings from ebay, but I've priced up a set of GM ones for a member the other day, and even at trade club price, you are looking at almost £60 each!

Yes Matt i paid £56 + £8 postage so not much difference
I hope you are talking £60 for a set and not for each piston should have stuck with GM but you just automatically assume GM will be asking crazy prices so just tend to look for every thing on e bay

the saab bolts are like ARP bolts 🙂 i found the part number 11518066 but if thats the right one i can't say
if you replace the bolts with the standard type wash the threads out in the head with carb cleaner and then torque to 10nm better to do it with a 3/8 torque wrench

there are holes in the piston under the oil ring to let oil in thats flicked up off the crank

piston ring gap locations fitting the rings this way prevents gap overlap and keeps them all evenly spaced

use some carb cleaner on a rag and wipe the chain over the colored link will show themselves 🙂

The second hone i bought off e bay other 1 was too small , it was the first cheapest one i came across so went for it .after realising it is between
1 1/8" - 2 1/2" ... Duh

Ring specs measured

Top compression ring reads 1.17mm . Haynes manual specs tell us 1.17 to 1.19 mm

Middle tapered ring 1.47 mm .Haynes manual specs tell us 1.471 to 1.490 mm

Bottom oil scraper ring 2.42 mm Haynes manual states 2.348 to 2.477 mm

So everything is sound with measurements, they seem to be up to the standards and meet all specs stated by Haynes manual. the ring end gaps should be ok when they get checked

No, the GM price is per piston! Even the bloke who I deal with on the parts desk said £60 would be a decent price for all for, but not each 🙁

Fluck that matt 240 bangers for a full set of rings. i was right though they do have crazy prices

The matter of getting Saab cam carrier cap bolts is a little tricky usually you need to provide a reg no. for parts so this makes it hard all i know is that saab engine is b207r i think . but i priced a set from vauxhall £19.60 for full set . Money upfront couple of days back order also:mad:
Will maybe check for arp ones on the net maybe e bay if anyone knows a seller that does this could maybe give a link .

Size of stud is M6
Full length is 48.7 mm
Threaded part of stud is 22.85 mm

If anyone knows of a good alternative to try that would be good(y)

go to vauxhall and get the z20net ones 🙂 £19.60 is a good price for not having them snap off in the head 🙂

think my post was edited as i said the mahle ones were £75 for a full set but it dont say it in the post #32 anymore
