Astra turning over but won't start - Started other day

My Astra's been parked up for a couple of days and on Wednesday (2 days ago) i went out and started it up.. Started first turn just sounded a little rattly like I needed oil..

So today I went and got some oil and tried to start it but it won't fire up?!

Its turning over but nothing else is happening.. I tried to bump it and still nothing.

The lights are on so it can't be battery, enough petrol in it & oil is ok.. Just not sure what else it could be..

Just weird how other day it was fine and today it won't start..

Any help will be greatfull!

i know it sounds abit daft but is your mileage displayed or is that blank? i have a fault with my corsa where it doesnt start sometimes.

but i know its common on the corsa, not sure on the astra.

The mileage and everything else is showing fine.
Read it could be the battery so took the battery off the BMW (Which also died the same day!) and still nothing.

When I turn the key the normal lights come on the dash like oil, battery, eml .. as usual until the car starts but no flashing EML like some others are having issues with..

The thing I don't get is, It started the other day but won't start now?!

Petrol has half a quarter of a tank, Oil is fine topped it up before I tried to start it, water is fine..

When I first turn the key you can hear the hissing noise which I've been told is the pump?
Then a click ?
Then it won't start
then the hissing noise when i stop..

take the rocker cover off i think the engine is telling you something
thats turning over to fast

i dont think you have any compression do you know anyone with a compression tester or have aa/rac cover ?
the engine should not be spinning that fast last time i saw one like that the chain was in the sump

see how slow mine was to turn after i fitted new chains

To see if your timing chain hasn't snapped bud. I hope its not that 🙁

I have home recover with insurance but not AA/RAC .. Looking at prices now, Think if I go with AA now they'll come out the same day? Really need a car for work on Monday!

I can tell the difference, Somebody said it could be flooded and to hold the accelerator down for about 30 seconds while trying to turn it over..?

Really not having a good weekend with cars, about 5 days ago I went out and bought a BMW 318ci se (can just see it in the video) anyways, On way home from work and that went click click boom 🙁 Basically was told the bottom end had gone..

Got home, Was pissed but saw my astra on the drive and smiled (Shouldn't have gone away from it!) but went and got some oil now that won't start so I'm stuck with 2 broken cars and no money... LOVELY WEEKEND ! 😢

not had a car thats injection flooded yet the old carburetors cars do
there are 2 options i can see for you to do and check if you can use the car on monday for work

1) call rac/other/mate to come and do a compression test
2) take the rocker cover off and see if the chain is still connected

even if the chain is snapped its not the end of the world i can rebuild the heads with some parts

where abouts are you? if your local enough i could come an have a look(not that i can fix a snapped chain) but could look to find out if its snapped or not.

im in chesterfield just off junction 29a on the m1. are you able to take the rocker top off so then you will see the chain if its still there.

I'm off J36 near Cortonwood at Wombwell..

& I'm going to ask my mate to lend his tools now so I can get top off.

so not amillion miles away. if you get the top off you should see if the chains gone or not. i hope not

iv got a code reader if it hasnt snapped but with how fast its spinning over it doesnt sound good.

He can't get his tools to me as he's busy, I don't have the tools to get top off so I'm a little screwed at the moment..

Just wondering how much of a pain its going to be with the A/C pipes too?

Also just noticed a very faint alarm noise coming from the passenger wheel arch, Could the immobilizer have kicked in too?

hmmmm thats a strange 1.
with no tools u cant check anything.
i think the imobiliser kills spark so if u can get a plug out n check for spark then u would know.

i could come to you n whip it off n have a look. but not sure on when

Thats the only thing, No tools I'll struggle to get a plug out.

But it still doesn't answer the question to what the puff of smoke was yesterday 🙁 ..

Infact, Think I forgot to mention that on here..
Somebody (Not sure who) said to hold accelerator down and turn key .. Did that and after a couple of seconds it was like a pop/bang .. then it did it again along with puff of smoke.. Quickly popped the bonnet and smoke was pouring from the air filter..

that sounds like a nice big back fire through the airbox. so thats a good sign in a way(it has a spark) but it still points to the valves not opening when they should so still looks like the chains snapped/slipped

giz your post code. al see if i can get over n whip it off if you like.
