dewismotorsport Well played alternator roulette driving back from Coventry to Poole and I won! So whipped the knackered one off and dug out one my spares Knackered one on the right, re conned about a year to a year and half ago now a paper weight, the one on the left is a vectra b 100amp one, appears to have a slightly different pulley design but belt fitted so went with it anyway All sorted and running fine, so decided to fit the EGR delete plates and cheater New problem cropped up last night on way down, the wipers on intermittent no longer return to the park location but will on the next two clicks so may need to replace that now, also temp gauge is intermittent as well and not very accurate so need to work out why as the sensor is new and I've tried swapping it before with a known working one trying to cure my fan problem as that doesn't kick in. Need to work out what is up

Need to work out what is up the one on the left has a worn pulley 🙂 the park wiper in the motor is worn they're easy to fix if you know how 🙂 had to fix a rover one some time ago same process drill the rivets then cut a thin strip of copper pipe to replace the worn end of the motor wiper, clean and solder in place find self tapping screw to refit the cover reinstall 🙂
dewismotorsport Ah right I did think it was odd the inner ribs were slightly lower than the outers, will replace it when the engines out next. Happy days I'll strip it down tomorrow and see what the crack is worst case I'll buy a new one so may as well try and fix it first (y)

I'll try and fix it first then worry about it if I can't 🙁

dewismotorsport Stripped the alternator to find the brushes are shagged doubt they were replaced for the refurb by the look of them However my Chevy cobalt SS supercharger kit has arrived from the states so happy days!
dewismotorsport Sjdickso said: Nice, when are you going to start to SC it? I've actually bought another full kit off Steven Margetts vectra b so will be starting it soon, going to make a new exhaust and fit a new clutch and lightweight flywheel then fit it all once that's done. So engine will be coming out again soon as balancer delete needs to happen and a few leaks to fix so easier to do it all on the floor

you can get a new reg for about £28 but the slip rings are £18 and a pain to change are they in good condition the slip rings ? supercharger it looks good in that pic but better once fitted 🙂
dewismotorsport I've stripped another alternator and nicked the brushes out of it and I'm gonna solder them back into this one 🙂 Slip rings are in alright condition so will leave for now. Yeah charger kit is in really good condition and agree will look better once on, well my other one will
dewismotorsport Un soldiered the old brushes and then tinned the newish ones and then soldered them in place, all back together and working perfectly, happy days 😃
dewismotorsport New supercharger kit, complete with cams, piper exhaust manifold and charge cooler kit

dewismotorsport Yeah that is a shame Dave  Yep that was me 😉 It made sense as it's a complete plug in and play set up ready to pump out 260bhp. Plan is to take engine out and fit cams, lightweight flywheel, clutch, delete balancer shafts and fit exhaust manifold and make down pipe and fit sports cat one weekend. Then my next free weekend do the sc conversion.
Dave_Gilbert i cant wait for my missis to pass her test so i can get rid of the vectra n buy an astra just so i can supercharge it hahahaha
