not quite 🙂

i did do the gap check on the rings but left me phone inside 🙁
just need to convert the mm to in

specs for fast road are
top ring 3.3858 x .0045" = .015"
2nd ring 3.3858 x .0055" = .018"

.015" = 0.38mm
.018" = 0.45mm

got some work to do on the top rings 🙂

here is the pics from last night just taken this morning

in the bores with the top rings pushed down 15-20mm

@[deleted] i have bought a air cut off tool just for the job 🙂 it has variable speed and a nice guard that can be bolted in the vice

im not sure i can measure .38mm so will be going for a tight .40 🙂
same as before the 2nd ring needs no adjustment it a loose .45 and a tight .50

@[deleted] it would of been great if the guy could find the ring grinder to lend me but hes not managed to find it so the above cut off tool will suffice once i get sorted 🙂

well I've got all those options 🙂
now im back from work off I go to the shed. feet are freezing already! 🙁
as you have posted ring gaps it saves me working them out (y)

works well on an old ring

butts up nice too

i dont have a 0.03 or 0.08 feeler so the next option was used

did the 1st ring and wanted to get a tight 0.40mm and a loose 0.35mm heres the tight 0.40mm

ends of the rings sanded with wet and dry to remove the burr

Is that .38mm or thou? My MAC tools feeler gauges have a 0.381 mm gauge which is 0.015 thou.

Should read post properly lol. As said, MAC tools feeler gauges have a .381mm gauge.

Basically, although mine are by MAC tools this is the set I have. Feeler Gauges.

the difference between 0.38mm and 0.40mm i can live with 🙂 and it saves me buying a new feeler gauge lol i have got some imperial ones somewhere but i think they went a little rust and the numbers are no longer visible

Mine are just about visible but a little corroded not due to rust but due to something acidic leaking in tool box years back. It's a shame cause they are a good set. I've had them about 25 years, lol (geeze just realised how old they are, lol).

Lol, just realised I inherited a set of angled gauges from a mate when he passed on, metric/imperial set from .127mm to .762mm.

ecotec oil filler cap not a great big yellow one

front cnc made guide bolt repair plug thanks to jeff

lnf aka a20nft thermostat housing and lower link tube with the extra port on the thermostat cap 🙂

I like the filler cap n thermostat housing and the link pipe, thats got alot more of a bend in it.

so are you gonna tell us the WHY?

Could that thermostat be used with my gearbox?
Not that im going to need it but looks special.

I must admit the oil filler cap does look better than the yellow one.
