Project Freeze My engine Off (SAAB B207R Supercharged)

when @[deleted] was here having his charger fitted he left me with a 10" slim fan thanks shane 🙂

only issue it was a suck and not a blow luckily the fan blade is symmetrical and was just a case of swapping the +12v and 0v to make is spin backwards for blow 🙂
unsoldered the fan resistor pack and resoldered the new fan to it

i had to make a bit of a bracket at the lower end to support the fan

it works lol will see how it goes on the road 🙂

i will now be able to move the water rad back and fit a stock uncut gsi bumper @[deleted] 🙂

the breather tube round the rear

2150 miles covered in the new engine and 1650 mile since the last oil change 🙂

as ive got the day off i went and bought 6L of mobile one 0-40 that was on offer at halfrauds

the shell oil was pretty black lol

the magnetic sump plug was pretty clean to

the after market filter was unsquashed

next job to make use of these pipes and the tee's i managed to get a hold of so i can now plum in the oil cooler

@[deleted] you asked me yesterday about fuel consumption
250 miles + the 30 miles left so 280 miles to a tank 🙂 would be more if i did more motorway miles but all my driving is around town normally 🙂

Agree the cover does finish the install off now 😉 cheers Carl so mine doing around the same mileage to a tank full 🙂

ive just took it off an made the cut out larger it sits a little better now around the fuel pipe
think there about 280-330 miles before charging 🙂

i should've taken my own advice 🙂 0/40 is shit full stop! its like the gm 5/30 make the engine noisy

Might have to do something similar on the air con rad fan as tried to fit the charge cooler in and I've got no chance with the massive standard fan :cry:

Cover does a good job of tidying up the injector rail area nicely

it works fine with the engine cooling but if i put the a/c on i get the cooling lamp on i dont think its powerful enough to keep the pressure down in the a/c rad
will have to get a 14" i think
i do like the cover the engine is more and more starting to look like an lsj lol
next step to make it more of an lsj is the lsj ecu and HP tuners

May be worth swapping from a cheap eBay fan to a SPAL one as they flow nearly twice as much so can still keep the size down

that was the original plan i had a 12" spal fan in my watch list on ebay but missed the end 🙁 then shane gave this one free so it got fitted need to find a spal blow fan thats 12" and not £90 lol

Yeah not cheap but bloody good, hopefully you'll find another, kenlowe is another good make so try searching them as well (y)

yeah we almost bought a kenlowe to replace the viscous fan on dads shogun but he managed to refill the coupler and make it work again lol

Basically 2 x 11" spal fans in one unit, which could be cut down if needed to fit, and for cheap, will sell the aircon rad on after 🙂

had a go with the oil cooler today
googled the image of the coolent loop to get it right

saab thermostat top and the z22se one

shortly after welding

hole thru from the looks of the diagram the pump pulls water out the top pipe of the cooler and then the expansion tank feeds the bottom of the cooler

1 pipe in

2nd pipe in with the use of a tee

system refilled and bled also gave it a lick over with autoglym vinyl and rubber spray

finally got round to fitting the vacuum pump to the brake servo

and ive already made the MK2 thermostat housing 🙂

just got to get it tig'd at work 🙂

What are the benefits of a oil cooler? Need a Vauxhall 2.2 (Z22se) engine this also?

i think the benefits are quicker engine warm up time and then overall cooler oil in the engine the oil in the saab engine take more heat because of the piston oil squirters and normally the turbo but ive connected it as it was on the engine and wanted it working 🙂 the z22se wont require it unless its in a vx220 🙂

on the drive to work this morning the car was ballistic and that was after the engine was warmed up so i guess it is making a difference
the brakes are also alot better on the vacuum pump to 🙂
