engine light on and cutting out?

never thought about marking it but then iwould'nt know where it was anyway...

its at the front of the engine by the throttle body.

car has broken down again today.. got it back to the garage. it has the same faults stored as bofore but now wont start. have left it at the garage and phoned vauxhall customer services. they showed me the ecu and there is a new one on the car. very annoyed now... csh..

car has been at the garage since friday and i had a call late afternoon (tuesday) today saying they had fitted a throttle body and this also has not cured the problem. they are completly useless and dont think they know what to do next. i can only wait and see what they come up with in the next few days.

I would try the egr valve next, I had an intermittant eml and it was the egr valve

Yes check this valve. Had a similair experience. Basically it goes rusty and actuator does not close valve. Easy to check take off and see if open or closed. Mine was open all the time - caused all kinds of running/starting problems.

ok guys. its been 3 weeks since the car broken down and would not restart. have got the car back today and seems ok for now. after replacing ecu's, throttle bodys, throttle pedal, wiring and what not else they resorted to replacing every thing off another car till it started. resulting in fuel pump relay being the faulty item. they replaced this and the car started and the three throttle faults stored when checking with tech 2 have been erased. apparently the guys at the dealer or vauxhall technical cant in any way explain how this is related and thus have not been charged for any work. i will not be reinburst the first lot of payment for the ecu that was replaced.

but I hate the way vx dealers happily change ecu's for no reason and then expect you to pay for it 🙁

yeah agree mate, seems as if they are having trouble diagnosing a fault they just blame the ecu/

When I had my Ecu replaced on my old Sri 2.2 it was giving a fault reading of "low voltage". Mine was running fine after they replaced it with a new one. Glad you have your car sorted now 🙂

Glad yer now sorted, they dont seem very switched on at the garage you used. Its all basic stuff if your ECU is playing dead then they could have checked that by checking for voltages at various sensor plugs roughly 5volts that teels you the ECU is roughly OK the ECU gets its power from the relays. They should have sussed this out on Tech2.

hopefully i wont have to take it back to them. they are the closest to me and reason why i used them. this is my first newish car so first experience using a vx dealership. thanks for your comments.
