David2_2coupe i'm now beginning to wonder about this noise. if it was the cat, then the noise would be there when revved and a broken cat should rattle, but neither. as it coming from the front of the car(engine bay area),I get the noise when accelerating between 2500 to 3000 rpm. sounds more like a loud induction noise. so this takes me back to the inlet manifold gaskets, @[deleted] or is there somewhere else it could be sucking in air from
David2_2coupe Matt said: Throttle body sealed onto the inlet manifold OK? thinking back, when I changed over the TB,there seemed to be a bit of oil over & surrounding the rubber gasket.

David2_2coupe Finally got a fault code(y) did this by driving the car with the code reader plugged in and "forcing it" into limp mode. code is ............ P1415 Sec Air Inject (AIR) Sys Bank1 is this the pre-cat lambda sensor?

pottsey Dave just spoke to my mate who is a vx tech head .hes thinking its more than likely the ecu as its not bringing up codes and the rough running.the indyction noise is caused by it being thrown of its stoke hence the noise coming back.my mate derry has an ecu kit if your interested the whole kit with 2 chips as well £50 .hes in long sutton if you want come over tomorrow
David2_2coupe @[deleted] may have got the code wrong lol it could be P1514 not 1415  this indicates Electronic Throttle Control Malfunction .... any ideas on that oneo_O
pottsey My mate is still saying it could be ecu.as it wont be receiving the right signal if there's a drop in voltage etc .I think that's what he said .only sure fire way to know completely is swap ecu as youve already done tb
David2_2coupe replacement intake manifold ordered from a 64k z22se engine.(y) gasket set ordered.(y) EGR pipe blanking plug ordered.(y) shite weather for the week.....not ordered:mad:but looks like it's here!
MikeS need tps on that scanner as all other data is not really showing much engine speed / map / tps would be a good start
