That sounds more like a fair price do you have a name for them as if nothing else I need my bonnet painting I can't get it back anymore and the finish is awful tbh.

I only paid £120 for a full front bumper respray on my Vectra, and the colour match was perfect.

It's about £250 -£300 to de texture and colour code rear bumper on the quote don't get me wrong the company is really good but I just can't justify that much money on that amount of painting

Yeah he said he would use a filler then smooth it so it matched the front bumper but I think I could do that myself with the proper stuff

i wouldnt use filler if i was doing it. i did a renault 5gt turbo full resto with a mate of mine(i did most of the prep he painted it) and the bodykit had like dipple effect all over it(was soppost to be like that) so i hit it with a DA sander then wet n dry untill it was smooth as a babies ass, then got painted with the body

i also did a astra g centre consol that was textured and rubbed that down smooth, its time consuming but cheap to do yourself, you could save shit loads, as all they would need to do is paint it. i cant see that costing more than £100/£125 (well round here anyway)

It's going to depend on the bodyshop I think. I know some places will let you do a lot of the prep work yourself, but I know from experience, that 95% of a good finish is all down to good prep work.

Question for all :-)
I've had a change of circumstances where I don't have a pt job and make the rest up with my own work I now work full time for more money :-) so I no longer need a van just something that can take my scaffold tower and hedgecutters on Saturdays.
so my question is
in the coming months after I've saved abit do I sell my van and get a powerful estate or I was thinking of getting a newer mk4 van and building another 2.2 van using the good bits off this one and anything that I don't like buying new?
I'm just thinking I don't have the money right now but I need to plan what I do as I can't run 3 cars really

Yeah that's what everyone I've asked has said tbh so in a couple of months ill look for a new van no older than 2003. I've got a good engine @[deleted] how much are you looking at for your sc kit?

Would be a shame to see the only 2.2 van vanish. At least this way, it will still carry on.

I wouldn't have the money sooner but I might just get it by the end of June.. if you could msg me when your finished with it I'll see where I'm at with the money but I'm very interested :-)

Yeah it would.. I just want something faster and as much as I like this van there's a lot of things I would do differently and one rear arch has bubbled abit and I'm only going to cue it for a few years before it's back so I may aswell look for a newer one as it is a 1998 van I can't complain

Yeah, I suppose if it was one you were doing yourself, and not something that was already converted, you could make sure it was done properly first time around.

Yeah that's it tbh engine and running gear is fine but things like the spare wheel recess could be cut out better I'm constantly finding bits cabled tied instead of a decent clip or bracket and most of all what really bugs me is on the n/s rear quarter just above the arch if you look along the reflection in the paint it's rippled like there's filler or something there it's the first thing I see
