its a damper and not a fixed bar there will still be movement just at a slower rate and lesser travel would be good to stop bits getting metal fatigue
and they do use the dampers on 600+ bhp cars that try to make the engines rollover 🙂
the shocker top mount would need a plate like on the end of a strut brace (picture in my head 🙂)
