I deffo think its a wheel bearing, if it makes no difference what way you turn, then it will be a rear one.

Naah, not the turbo either. You can only hear the noise when you are going above 50mph.

Well I've just had it into the local mechanic who I've used a few times. He took it out, without me saying what the noise was. Came back, first thing he said.......wheel bearing. Front near side. Going to give it another 2 weeks to see if it gets worse, as he said it's still really faint, but it's going to cost £250 all in for a whole new hub including fitting.

Just been telling Carl, I don't have the space on the drive to do something like this, I'd not feel confident with the car up in the air. For the cost of the part, I'd rather just pay the £100 they are charging in labour to do it.

It's the same as when I spent all that time and effort trying to solve the knocking from what I thought was the rear of the car, and ended up fitting new drop links, rear shocks, removing and re-fitting the RARB, for it to take a garage 20 minutes to correctly diagnose.

is it all in one unit, I remember when I used to do my 19 16v ones, the bearings had to be pressed in.

Yes, it's a whole unit supplied
