Hi all, I'm trying to help my brother with his '07 Vectra C 2.2 SRI estate, which a bit of research has told me has the Z22SE engine?
A few days ago it refused to start after being parked on the drive overnight. A bit of the usual poking and proding and it was started, but it had no go to it whatsoever, feeling more like a 0.2 than a 2.2. My brother limped it to the nearest vauxhall garage, where they initially said it had probably lost teeth off the timing belt (?!) then changed their mind when they realised it had a chain, and said that their investigation was that the chain had jumped 7 teeth on the sprocket. Their report also said compression is down in one cylinder, but that diagnostics returned no faults at all.
Now it's a few years since I was in a 'proper' garage, so things may have moved on a bit, but I can't recall ever having seen a chain jump a tooth, let alone 7 teeth, nor do so without mauling an awful lot more than the compression on one cylinder!
So... thoughts? anyone had similar where this engine has been very difficult to start and run at extremely low power? max speed to garage was 40mph LOL (I know it wasn't that wise him driving it there but hey at least it wasn't my suggestion!)
