Okay guys just an update, i have everything all cleaned up and ready to put back together!
new bearings have been installed, new rings, balance shaft delete, new timing chain, new lash adjusters....

hoping to get some time later this week to put the bottom half back together, but just a question. what should i use as a gasket for the two bottom crankshaft halfs? the stuff from factory seemed like a silicone substance. what have you guys used?
i will put up some photos once i have got the two halfs together, hoping to get the car on the road soon!

hey
did you use any assembly grease on the new shells ?
one more question did you hone the bores out for the new rings or are you leaving them as is

and here is the kind of thing you need for the bottom gasket 🙂

Cheers guys! yeah i have assembly grease for the bearings and have honed the bores aswell. the only thing i have to do it seat the valves properly and install the valve stem seals. but for now im just getting the bottom end all done, i really want to put some time into the head and give it a really good clean up (especially the exhaust ports) but i hope to have it on the road in 2weeks at the latest depending on work and how much time i have.

Okay so it has been awhile since i have updated, i lost most of my rebuild photos due to a memory card error of some kind. but i have just taken some pictures today of where i am at.

90% of the engine is back together, just have to install the last of the wire loom, gearbox and etc and i should be able to put it back into the car.
but here are some photos of how it looks as of this arvo. any thoughts or suggestions are welcome!

Thanks guys, to tell you the truth the red was old caliper paint i had laying around... but it did turn out very nice! hoping to have the engine in and running by the end of the week.

my new projector/angel eye headlights came in today as well so those will go in when the car is up and running.

Well got the engine in today, nearly everything is connected just the odd stuff like intake piping and etc.
all that i have to do is put new oil, filter, bleed the clutch, trans oil, coolant and then prime the oil through the engine.
hardest part out of all that is finding the oil for the transmission. went to the Holden dealer and they dont have any in the state!
i have to order it from Melbourne in 1L bottles at 35$ each...
so would anyone know what i could put in the trans that i could by at any parts shop?
