got a set of super low mileage 308 discs and gm pads,callipers and calliper brackets in the batcave going to clean them up and sell them on now i got the vxr brakes on and sorted

Hmm how much would you be looking for I was looking to get a complete set so I can paint them to match etc mine need a complete overhaul

prolly about £120 with eveything there the callipers i refurbed not so long ago wanted to keep them as a set for just in case but now the vxr ones are done and dusted there in my way

car got a wash with a new kit i got

not bad value for what you get
microfibre wash mit
water mag shammy
2 polishing pads
endurance tire get
ultimate wax
ultimate wash

and got a bottle of polish to use with the mop so i have the 3 step system again 🙂
next time i do a full clean on the car i will use
step 1 : ultimate compound
step 2 : ultimate polish
step 3 : ultimate wax

brakes went a little brown after washing 🙂

no mate got naff all else to do 🙂
if i dont work on the car i would be sat on my arse watching shitty eastenders or some other bollocks
and with working on the car it keeps me and you lot entertained 🙂

I've seen some brackets that let you use the astra rear callipers with the vxr rear discs.

do you mean like the vxr ones i just fitted to use the vxr discs ?
i forgot to get a pic of the 2 in comparison but there was only a difference of about 10mm in hole centres the other difference is the vxr ones are 3 times as heavy over the standard astra ones

stand still till this weekend for the clutch i think and maybe get the crank back next week some time waiting on them to finish the clutch and flywheel then drop them down with the crank for the balancing

Don't need rear VXR callipers, this bracket lets the original lucas or whatever calliper be used with VXR disccs 🙂

the calliper bodys are the same mk4 vs mk5 as that what i fitted to mine when the nipple thread came out and i replace them
the calliper brackets were different the mk4 has a step the mk5 dint sure i have a pic (red mk4)

i take it the brackets you have seen don't have the rased part to meet the bracket are they more expensive than the £30 i paid for the pair of rear hubs ?

my next step will require custom brackets as the brackets the car they come off are part of the hub might be cheaper for me to buy the hubs then cut the rest off and just leave the part i want lol

had a call from the local vauxhall dealer they left me a message to say could i call them they needed a chat
1st thoughts were oh fk what have i done
but turns out all was well the sales manager see's my coupe parked up right out side the window every time i pop down for parts
and he's just picked up a astra coupe 2.2 in mirage grey one they sold years ago has come back so he bought it
the problem was it has the irmscher front valance and rear spats (a look that passed as ok 9 years ago) but the front valance looks a bit tacky now
he called to ask if i still had my coupe bumper as he wanted to buy it well i do and its sold 🙂 told him £45 and the rear spats he said ok
i also mentioned that i could do his chains cheaper and quicker than the guys in the garage 🙂

have also sold the wheels i bought from ambrose to a guy at work with a vec c all his wheels are curbed real bad and my plans have changed so have a bit of extra room in the batcave 🙂

other news the vxr brakes are real good now they have covered some miles had to reset the hand brake @[deleted] thanks for the info looks like i had fitted the cantilevers so the were to far round stopping the auto adjustment when i rebuilt the callipers
went on ebay a bought 1.5l of AP racing 5.1 brake fluid only to wash the whole system thru it had 5.1 in but topped up with dot 4 when i fitted the new discs (its all me mate had on the shelf at the time) this will make it all 5.1 🙂

ah but you do want a gsi bumper 🙂 lad at work had a titan gold coupe years ago with one its the lighter colors must be it just did not fit the look of the car

well the bumpers gone just took down to vx and he took it off me for £45 and gave me the rear spats
he also hinted he wants me to do his chains at some point and i come home with enough clips the front arch liners for free 🙂

time to eat cheese on toast then go load the car up
gazebo and tools and waterproof under pants
got a chain in the morning hears hoping its not bent valves or its gonna be a long day lol

the local flood looked alot deeper than it actually was 🙂

new toys scrubbing pads for the wheels 5l jerry can and spout wd40 and wheels for the engine stand

rear spats almost look the same color lol

mobile chain and head repair kit packed up

it just fits in the car 🙂
