its better to use pure argon when mig welding stainless. used to do it at work years ago found you needed loads of volts to get a good weld. sure you will do a great job going by the rest of your work! (y)

yeah i only have a hobby mig so its got 3 settings on/high/off lol but using disposable pure argon bottles

having to miss the vvoc RR meet cars not road worthy yet lol

after a few cups of tea i set about mounting the charge cooler rad
heres what i have up to now

alloy angle pop riveted in place

what knots clips fitted

its on just need to sort out some lower fixings

heres how to destroy a £170 water rad 🙂

dont panic it's only the air bleeder 🙂 found a gas jet 106 that pretty much the right size
with the stated orifice supposed to be 0.040" so its 1.016 in millimetres my jet is 1.06mm close as fuck it is to swearing 🙂
tapped the hole out to 1/8npt and found a brass fitting to suit 8mm pipe i went with brass to stop the copper/alloy galvanic reaction

restriction jet fitted in to the end of the vx220 bottle pipe

1.5 bottles of gm long life going in 🙂

tidied the pipe work up some

wires for the pump to the relay box (2 red ones at the front)

gm relay and fuse holder from a 1.7td astra pins removed 🙂

just came in for some lunch then its back to work
todo list

fit/make lower brackets
make relay turn pump on only when engine is running
move A/C fan resistor
refit bumper

got to make a stainless manifold and 3" zorst system yet but its all going to plan now 🙂

relay wired in

back in realy box

the clearance of the charge cooler to the a/c fan

its all back together now time for a test drive 🙂

crappy pic but this is how it looks in the bay now

also the setup of the charge cooler was self bleeding after about 20 seconds 🙂 it will constantly remove air from the system when it gets in to the rad 🙂

A: makes it go like fuck thats what!

so much pulling power now and its backfiring every gear change when doggin it sounds great
