Sjdickso I may be wrong but i give you three weeks and i bet you go back, either that or you will use a third party software to get away from Metro. TBH for a end user it may be ok
Matt I'm rolling back already! Something has happend with the network connections, and I can't access anything off the laptop. Ether wifi or Ethernet.
Matt Sjdickso said: That smashed the three week time scale i gave you :ROFLMAO: to roll back. I know, I really can't be arsed messing about. So much for "Windows 7....but better"
Matt Fully restored back on Windows 7 now. That was a waste of £15 and a full day! At least I've got a serial to use later on.
Daz My 2 weeks of win 8 has been trouble free.. all be it i installed it on a new pc i built 3 weeks ago, alys is working faultlessy too
Matt My laptop is only 2 months old, but it's got a lot of Intel software on it because it's an ultra book. I'm wondering if there were some conflicts there, plus it was an upgrade from windows 7, and not a clean install like I normally do.
Daz I did a clean install on both of ours, as i heard a few storys bout the uprgrade route going pete tong after a bit of use...
Matt That's probably what the issue was. Couldn't be arsed trying to figure it out though, as I need the laptop tomorrow as I'm DJ'ing at a party
Sjdickso As you can tell i am not a liker at the moment but i am sure it will grow on me or maybe the next release will.
Paul_Wheeler Sorry to hi-jack this post but I bought a new laptop at the weekend & it's got windows 8 on it! What I didn't realise is you can't play DVDs with windows 8. Apart from having to folk out £49 for a pro version to get windows media centre does anyone know of away around this???? Apart from loading windows 7 on it! 🙁
Matt Install VLC - that is what I've used to play media on for years now. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.html
Paul_Wheeler But it doesn't always work. One minute it'll play the DVD the next it comes up with an error about the region being not read & a whole host of other errors. I've also tried downloading k-lite mega pack (codec) & still no joy!
Matt Hmm, not sure what to suggest then :banghead: Is there anything available via google that tells you how to work around it?
Paul_Wheeler Unfortunately not a lot of info apart from everyone saying to use VLC, which doesn't work for me. Might have to pop into pc world & see what they say 🙁 cheers matt for trying to help.
