Lesson learned, even though a car looks good on the surface and has full service history, if monkeys with guns have been looking after it, it will be a headache.
similar to my astra m8, had full vauxhall history but the spark plugs looked a good 30k, oil was black as fook, air filter was black as fook, sump bolt was welded on and rusted, oil filter was failing apart
apparently had a service only 4k prior to buying it
2nd hand cars is always about luck m8, no matter how hard you try looking for a motor, you don't know if you got a good car until you have driven for a few months
Had mine now over two years and touch wood all it owes me is a centre section, set of discs & pads and my regular oil changes etc, could of been a lot worse if I had taken the dealership's word that it had been given a good service
even reputable dealers are dodgy as fark m8, went to look at a corsa c at a looker's vauxhall and it had no coolant in it, their response was it was part of the service, they are basically waiting for the next mug to come along
