It wasn't that hard really, the join to the front handbrake cable is under the exhaust heat shield which is a exhaust off job, however my two rear bolts on the heat shield had snapped anyway so I peeled it back to access without removing exhaust.

I drilled out the old broken bolts and rethreaded the holes just in case and put new bolts in :-)

Going to price up some GM pads for the front and rear to avoid the issue matt had with his pads.

I have those on the front too, however I went for the black coated ones for the rear as the fronts rust and look crap. I am going to have to either paint the fronts soon or just go 308's and paint the discs before fitting.

Take a closer look, you can see the black towards the centre of the wheel, the parts that go rusty is the outside edges, grooves, holes and the centre of the discs.. Ill take a pic of my fronts tomorrow in light to show what happens.

The black paint covers the whole disc then when the pad is applied it rubs its off the areas of contact leaving the other areas free from rust over time :-)

I wish I'd got the back coated ones now, as mine have rusted up a treat where the pads don't touch the discs.

my rears were making a nasty screeching noise, I was unsure what it was as handbrake worked oki and the wheels were moving freely, i stripped down the calliper to find rust stuck inside the pad where it had corroded on the edge, very happy as i just slapped it back on !

My inside pad on the nearside was metal on metal, only one though which I thought was weird.

Even coated ones blister and rust normally after a heavy winter a coat of VHT paint soon sorts it out though 🙂

vht is porous and not designed to get wet will rust thru eventually
best one so far is 2k acrylic its like glass
hammerite is just balls once the disc gets past 24c it bubbles off
next set i will get powder coated now i got a mate that does it for a living

Fitted the Roose hoses today, the one from the coolant bottle to the top rad wouldnt fit, too small inside diameter for the top rad connection!!

Ill be having words with Roose.

Front brakes started squelling today, mintex crap, not changed the pads yet though to the pagid ones.

Mine feels much better now with the genuine GM ones fitted. Tempted to re-do the backs as well and put GM on there as well.

Fitted the silver/black centre console on the weekend, looks nice.

Not bothering with the Pagid pads until I do my 308 conversion in the next few weeks or so.

Roose motorsport are sending me a replacement hose for the one that didn't fit :-)

Snetterton on Sat, not using my car this time again as I have spent too much lately and I need to recover LOL
