stereo swap in vectra c

can a Vauxhall cd30 mp3 unit out of a 2009 corsa be fitted in a vectra c 2003?

and will it work with the steering wheel controls and is it the same colour as the silver/grey in a vectra c sri??

as im wanting a aux or usb for mp3 player/ipod galaxy s2 etc and theres a cable that can be fitted to the back of this stereo

No it won't work mate as the cd30 is from a full can car and yours will be a half can (different electrics) What model is your stock hu because you can fit an aux in to the 2005.

Yea the CDR 2005 VDO same as mine, I did it a few years ago and its still going strong now, I also use it as a hands free with my phone. I'll put the link below, for the silent CD I just downloaded a silent track from itunes and burned it to a CD. VX sell the Aux in fli lead so if you wanted you could give it a more factory look. Anyhow linky below 🙂

that looks a little complicated.

so i get a female jack plug cable, solder that in then download a silent cd, put the cd in plug my phone or mp3 player etc in and press play on the mp3 player??

what if i want to listen to the radio do i just change it to radio like i would normally from cd to radio??

where did you get your cable from? do i need a certain cable to do it, would any body consider doing or offer a bit more detail on how to? i have done some soldering but i wouldnt want to ruin a perfectly good stereo.

i have seen this fitted in my friends car she says it has usb aux and ipod/iphone conection it is a bluetooth for hands free and can be used to conect phones or mp3 players if you get the proper conection for the stereo it will silence the stereo when a phone call is happening etc. she had it brand new fitted for about £170

but i think i can get A good second hand 1 for £50-60 and a cable for my vectra for £10 then fit it myself. what would you recomend???

Once its soldered in and plugged into your MP3 player you just select CD. To put the radio on just select radio. I love it, with my android phone I turn on sat nav and music, it plays the music then pauses it when the sat nav (google nav) anouncment cones on, the sat nav comes out the cars speakers then auto returns to the music, if my phone rings I tap answer and it becomes a hands free with the conversation again coming out of the cars speakers.

Give us a tick and I'll get the part number for the vx aux in cable.

nice 1. it looks neater than having a parrot in front of the stereo(parrots a handfreekit)

im just worried about the soldering, im good with spanners and big items like wheels and exhaust but my fingers and eyes arnt built for small fiddly things.

The part number is 13255833, you have to extend it though. All I did was solder three wires to the PCB, cut the plug off the aux in lead and solder/crimp terminal the wires from the PCB to that. If you pull the little cubby out from under the heater controls you can cut the hole in the back and fit the aux in into there for a clean look.

The parrots are good but I got rid of mine when I did the aux in mod but my parrot was more basic than that one. I think they work by taking the hu out of the system and the combo of your MP3 player and the parrot becomes the hu, I couldn't tell you if there any good. Theres also things like FM modulators and denson ice links. The best ones plug into your aerial jack and you just tune your radio into it. You can pick up a cheap FM modulator for about a tenner but the ones that transmit are not that good.

by the looks of the cable on ebay i just cut 1 end off and like u say add so much cable.

by the looks of the link im not unsoldering anything im just warming it up and connecting cables to the same piece with a liitle more solder. it doesnt look that hard, im just not the best with wiring im more mechanical than electrical.

are these stereos coded(iv never had it out before) it does sound like a really good conversion, im really shocked that nobody is offering these on ebay

as everyone wants to be able to use mp3s in there car now

Yep that's all I did, heated the existing solder and put the extra wire in/on. Yes the hu's are coded, the code is on your car pass which should be in the manual/service book wallet, if its not there then vx can get you another one using your vin but at a price.

PS and yes, just cut the flat plug off the end of the fly lead.

i think it is the cleaner option im just not so sure about the silent recording but im sure al find 1.

how long would you say it would take to do a nice clean job??

sounds easy enough, and seen as youv done it before i can always ask you loads of stupid questions untill i get it right hahaha

Tbh thinking about it some sort of plug/crimp terminal would be better joining the vx fly lead to the wires to the hu as you'd end up joining everything together and you won't be able to get the hu out, its a few years since I did mine lol, the wire I used to solder to the PCB was too fine a grade to crimp so I think I used a domestic style block with the little screws but crimp on terminals would be better.

The hu's are a pig to get out, if it doesn't shift take the silver trim off, then take the screen surround out and you'll be able to get your hand in and push the hu out from the back.

hi rushy, i dont know what the HU is? or the VX fly lead but i would say thats the aux cable or jack plug socket? and i think tbh is to be honest hahahaha i think

nice 1 also my mate at work has got a 54 plate corsa sxi with the cd30 in do you know of any body doing the similar conversion?? so i can do theres aswell.

HU stands for head unit or sterio the fly lead is the aux in cable and yep tbh stands for to be honest :-) I've never seen a convertion for the cd30 but if the car had a cd30 fitted in the first place then he may, and I say may be able to fit a late spec cd70 as these come with an aux in as standard, in fact I think my mothers Corsa D has a CD30 with factory aux in?

this is the part i have found. i think i just need to know which 3 cables it goes to on the back of the stereo but not sure. head unit yeh now i see it. its ok im not all with it today. im going to my local electrical place tomorow they do everything for audio for djs and cars well anything electrical so im gonna see if i can find something there. i think i just need a jack plug with 3 cables instead of 2. im not actually sure what the 3 cables are for but im sure al figger it out[FONT=arial][/FONT]

Thats just something someone has made, but there's nothing stopping you doing that. The 3 wires are Left channel +, Right Channel + and 1 common earth. If you have a look at the end of a Sterio Jack you will see its a metal shaft with 2 black rings, the rings split the shaft into 3, 2 + and 1 -. The trick is connecting the right ones up, some sort of circuit tester might come in handy, a torch and some wire will work.
