Renewal time again but not entirely happy this time round. I've recently found that the accident that I had in Christines car last year has gone down against me as a fault claim. Under normal circumstances I would have accepted this but its not that cut and dried.
Basically, Aviva have settled the 3rd party claim as they have NO record of me EVER contacting them or providing them with an accident form or details of the accident. No pictures, statement, no phone calls and no emails!! This is utter nonsense and I have now lodged a formal complaint and now the whole case is being investigated as are the call handlers that have dealt with us when WE have contacted Aviva whenever we were chasing up our claim.
Anyway, my renewal this year was £703. This is without the fault claim against me. I called Sky Insurance and spoke to a chap called Sam. I explained the situation and he put the quote through with the fault claim and all my usual car details. His quotation came back at £642 or £622 if I agreed there and then. I decided to wait until this morning so that I could call Adrian Flux and update my circumstances with the fault claim and get them to requote me.
Flux asked if I'd had any better prices than their original £703. I said yes and they asked how much so I told them. 5 minutes went past and the lady came back to say that they could do £640 but my current company Equity Red Star wouldn't cover me so I would have to move to another company called Highways. I eventually agreed to the new quote and the deal was done.
2 minutes after my call to Flux, Sam from Sky Insurance contacted me. I explained what had just taken place and he was a little miffed to say the least. What he said to me left me feeling a little guilty and as if I'd made a mistake going with Flux again this year.
He asked me what I expected from and insurance broker? I said the best possible insurance cover for the best possible price. He agreed. He then asked if I felt that it was a little unjust of Flux to be able to wipe off £60 from my renewal just like that. Why hadn't they researched the renewal and just offered the best price to begin with?
He made perfect sense and I was left feeling as if i'd been had over. He respected my decision but asked me to call them back at Sky next year. Flux does seem to be getting more and more expensive every year and not just by a small amount. It always seems a big jump.
So this year looks like its going to be my last with Adrian Flux. I should have given Sky Insurance a chance this year really.
