injector leak !!!!

Hi to all :thumbup:

Recently had the head off my z22yh (cam chain adjuster went 🙁 ). Head skimmed , new valves etc. All back together and running a treat apart from two minor things which my spanner man is struggling with. Firstly the fuel injector nearest the cam chain end seems to let by every now and then, usually when the car is stone cold but sometimes when its hot !!. Me spanner man has played around with it and its a better as it used to just gently hiss away but now, no hiss of fuel but its still leaking ??? anyone got any ideas :crazy: . Secondly HPFP seal seems to leak oil when it wants. New seal put on, but still letting by ???
Any ideas boys ???

might be worth replacing the seals again and checking nothing is damaging them

I had this when replacing exactly what u have.
Firstly I forgot the metal clips when putting back in. Major fuel leaks!!
Then, once I put the original back in it was clear they had misshaped.
I went and bought all the seals which comes as a kit and replaced everything.

Hiya Gary, where did you get your kit from, as I just contacted Vauxhall and they said that the seals do no exist for the injectors, or am i asking for the wrong thing :S ? Cheers

I can look for receipt later to get details if u need. There are 2 seals, metal retainer and blue clip to hold injector.

I think mine just hissed when running. I had fuel I could see leaking from the end 2 and major drips on the floor whilst running. Severe lack of power too.
I had great difficulty getting the rail back in with the injectors and could not clean up the wholes as well as wanted.
I had to bash them in with a wooden mallet and being very cautious where to hit the rail.
And with issues I create I don't think I know exactly, just good memory with the issue

Ahhh right, maybe I shouldn't point fingers to that seal just yet as the hissing can last for 10-20minutes after engine is switched off! I know its got to be something to do with High Pressure fuelling system, its just locating where its coming from. Not sure if you have seen my original post about the issue but its coming from injector #4 Area :S

Could still be but do you have any fuel leaking then. U also have the intake manifold and EGR pipe around that area.
I had gaps in EGR pipe where the screw pulled the thread out the intake.

No, weird thing is I started to smell fuel inside the car when fan blowers are on! however there is no visible fuel leaks when engine is on or off! Puzzled :s

:s sounds expensive. Im gonna pick a day to strip the top, only problem is as soon as I let the pressure out the fuel system I wont be able to find the leak.. Its gonna be fun tho

If you need a inlet manifold I am stripping my car so we can discuss that (hopefully there is no issue with mods posting this).
I replaced the gaskets and swirl flap bar a few months back.
For the whole thing new is over £400 and for just the gasket which comes with the bar it's over £200.

Had a little play about with it today whilst it was hissing prodded the injector top and noise changed so its defiantly got something to with that. Gonna get it out and see what needs fixing :S Cheers Guys

I have stripped all out of the way to get to the injector rail and have undone all bolts that i can see, 2 Torx screws and 4 Torx Bolts and the injector rail is now loose but is still attached below possibly to the injectors, Does anyone know how i go about removing it completley so i can check the seals?

Just to update, got the fuel rail out with one injector still stuck in!! All plastic clips have broken on all injectors :/ can you tell me Gary doe the plastic clips and injector top O rings with plastic rings and metal clips all come in this kit? Many thanks - Pictures to come

Can you tell me in the kit does the plastic and O rings come with it, cars stripped and I gotta wait till thursday delivery from vauxhall! 😮
