Got some bad news today about my dog

Well got my dog to the vets today for some more tests. They put him under and removed a lymph node for tests and gave him an X-ray. His X-ray came back all clear, no masses or tumours. Only one of his lymph nodes were up which is good. They seem to think he could possibly have pneumonia or the original thing they told us. We are still waiting on tests from the lymph node they removed today. So things could turn out for the better yet, fingers crossed. I am glad I went for the extra tests to be done.

Well the blood tests came back today, the vets are now saying he has an enlarged liver, so has liver disease of some kind and they are saying it may be "liver cancer". They are not 100% sure yet till they get the tests from the Lymph Node tomorrow. Today my dog is looking great, he is eating loads, he is back to his normal self again. I don't think the vets know whats going on with him. I hope he has a bug or something. They say he might have to have an ultra sound if they need to look closer at his liver.

Well it's a bloody good job you didn't take their initial diagnosis Mark. I'd be tempted to look for a second vet after the next set of tests.

The tests from his lymph Node came back today. It's not good news, he has cancer as first stated from day one. They said you can get two kinds, they are testing to see what cancer he has. If its in his liver Its worse, if its In his blood they can offer him chemo. Either way it's not good for my boy. Gutted, I love my pup only 4 years old. He still has so much love to give but cancer has ruled that out for him. 🙁

I feel bad for you Mark, when the day comes its going to awful, iv'e been there quite a few times before and to say my eyes were dry afterwards would be a complete lie.
Fingers crossed its the better of the 2 cancers though.

Cheers. It's either going to be cancer in his lung or cancer in the blood. If its the lung one then his time is shorter 🙁

Yes Matt, we have decided to try him on chemo. The vet said with him being young he should do ok. The vet said if it was his dog he would give it chemo. We just decided this tonight, hope its the right choice. He seems good in himself, bit picky with food at the moment.
