This is the longest I've had it stable since before Christmas

been allocated an ip or given a static ip and just stopped working - if i plugged directly into it and used qnap finder software to connect then it would detect it

reflashed nas and gave it a new cat5 cable and decided it was oki

looking at new nas atm undecided on hp proliant / qnap or cheapo nas

Nice, haven't seen that one yet.

The Iomega I've got is really good now it's stable again. It was defo me enabling cron which was killing it, as it was stable for 6 months before I enabled it, and it's stable now I've stopped it again. Suppose that is why it's disabled by default.

I've got my 1TB USB plugged into it as well

what process were u using concerning cron - was it a back up ?

haven't used linux for a few years now - do miss it though

I enabled it so I could call a script I wrote to create a directory and move my CCTV images on a daily basis. I think that by enabling it, other standard jobs which would normally be run via cron were also being done....which aren't needed on the NAS. I managed to catch it just as it died, and the load was high, and then became unresponsive. I had to power it off to get it back, and doing so cleared any logs, so could never actually see what was happening to kill it.

yus had very high cpu usage on that qnap i was working on - cant remember what i did but disabled part of the security features

show non of the porcesses using the cpu

use ps aux also whilst running to monitor cpu usage on pid's

Yeah, that would have been the next command, but it died before it even finished, so I couldn't see what was running.

I now just sit with a session open and have top running to see what's happening while I'm on my computer.

does automated backup of all clients on network
network shares
itunes server
nzb server

very automated once setup

running in a spare room off a 200av homeplug getting 7MB/s

managed to get 140 days uptime from the NAS. Had to reboot it today to update the firmware, as there was a security flaw with the previous one

i was out on call to setup an ix2-200 cloud edition

they cloud was refusing to work correctly wan side - had forwarded mass amounts of ranges lol but it kept dropping out

i could go via https and access the folders fine

seemed a very buggy unit

you using standard firmware matt ?

Yeah, standard firmware, but mine isn't the cloud version. All remote access is port forwarded and NAT on my router.
