there is a difference between the fuels, over the years I've used the fuels in my work car (1000 miles a week) and you can tell the difference between 95 and 97 octane.
I'm using diesels for work now and even their fuel makes a difference, ultimate diesel vrs normal.
It's difficult to tell unless you do mega miles and then swap fuel types, but there is a difference in performance and fuel economy
