Fitting Pipercross Air Induction

Hi People, this is my first time on here so please excuse me if i have posted in the wrong forum.

My car is the Astra 2.2 Bertone Coupe, 5 speed manual, petrol, non turbo version registered Jan 2003. It has the standard flat panel filter and airbox and my question is this:

I have just purchased off Ebay a second hand Pipercross air induction set,(see attached picture) and i was wondering if this is easy to fit or should i get a mechanic to fit it. Apparently it was removed off a working Astra Mk4 2.0 Turbo. Also as you can see in the picture where the arrow is pointing there are some electrical wires inside the rubber spigot and i have no idea what they are for, are they needed for my car, or are they only for the turbo version ??????

The part you are pointing to in the above picture is the MAF sensor on the Z20LET engine.

You'd just need to see if the induction kit is big/small enough to fit onto the inlet pipe on the Z22SE

or get a connector to suite.

That is a picture that Jamee posted of his old coupe. I think it's the intake pipe from a Vectra.

I would wait and see what it is like when it arrives, as matt says you may need a connector.

Yes the intake pipe is a vec c one, Johnny also had one on his Vec.

Thanks MATT and sjdikso for reply. I think i might be a bit out of my comfort zone here as i am not that technically minded, i can change plugs and oil but thats about my limit. So what does the MAF sensor do ?, and is there an easy how to fit guide for this pipercross air intake kit ? Would you advise me to take this to a mechanic or attempt to fit myself.

MAF is used to measure the air flow into the engine MAF = Mass Air Flow. You'll easily be able to fit it yourself, it's just a case of making sure you can get the joining sections to make it fit.

If you can swap plugs and do a oil chnaged then fitting a induction kit wont be an issue, as Matt says you have just got to make sure that joining sections fit properly.

Take old airbox out 5 minute job.

The only tricky issue is that induction kit inst a 2.2 one and doesnt look like it has a neck on it, it also looks like the owner of the turbo one has fixed it using gaffa tape :problem: .

Once you get it take some more pictures and i am sure we can give some more advice.

i have got it already, its currently sitting in my boot. It looks the same as the pic i posted but i will take some more photos of it and my engine bay. Thanks again for all your help, its much appreciated.

quistion an airbox as above or just like green or k&n does it get more hp????sound i know but i read some on google a ''drilled airbox'' a standert airbox with holes haha does that have the same sound and ???power??

z22se doesn't have MAF sensor unit. We have MAP sensors (Manifold Absolute Pressure). This is located at the inlet manifold just below the throttle body.

I have drilled the air box on the VXR. Added about 6 holes to the side next to the wing to stop warm air being drawn in.
