umm if your engine runs too rich it can throw up a similar error as the fuel isnt all being burnt and as a result more o2 remains unburnt and thats all your sensor reads as narrow bands cant read outside certain afr's.

just a thought :think: (thats for extremely rich tho)

possibly the coolant temp sensor or the lambda is duff and affecting the fuelling at that point

I poped into vx tonight and ordered a CTS ill start with that i think as it's cheep.

for £11 it's worth a punt.

Bit of an update.

I changed the CTS and also threw a new front lambda in.

While changing the lambda i noticed my cat was rattling around :x so now im running de cat until i can aford another one or afford the bits to make a 4-2-1 with cat comination drool.gif .

I was getting a odd fluttering noise between 5500 and 6800 and thats now gone from removing the cat 🙂

So with the new lambda and cts the splutter is still there but not as bad and the idle seems much better.

One thing i have noticed tho is normaly on first start up in the morning you can hear the fuel rushing through the pipes and then cut off before you crank it but for some reason mine is doing that and still making noise for about 10secs after start up so im kind of thinking it could be that its drawing in air 🙁

Can you buy injector seals on there own?

Also going to look at another fuel rail as mine is a bit dodgy on the return end (it moves about)!

I also have a similar problem, engine sems to stumble on tick over, not to bad but you can feel through the car and hear the change in the exhaust note. Hold the revs at 2000rpm and again stumble / miss but the car drives without issues and pulls very well. I have blanked off the egr and waiting to replace the valve with an egr cheater. No fault codes recorded so i presume the valve to be ok? I can only conclude from reading other members reports that this must be 2.2 inherent problem from factory or age related, saying that i only have 31000 miles on the clock notsure.gif

the owner of a z22se engined car reported the same problem yesterday, when I changed the timing chain I found the crank timing one tooth out :wtf:

after he had driven home he reported back that the engine power had increased and the problem had gone....

I put a brand new chain kit(new net tentioner kit) on just after my re build and i generaly check things 5 or 6 times before putting them back together.

Ill have to check it out soon :roll:

One thing i also thought about aswell is that by raising the CR my valve timing is afectivly out slightly.

By lowering the deck hight with skim and slim gasket it's moved the cams closer to the crank and shortened the distance between the two on the inlet side of the engine.

Do you think this can have an effect or am i getting up my own ass?

It would explain my sh*t power figures as the compression would be leaking out before the valves shut so i might not even have the 11:1 i should have dunno..

Mines only covered 31000 miles from new and the engine runs well and silent ie no chain rattle etc. I have spoken with Benny regarding fitting a new chain kit and uprated nozzle possibly the back end of October, so we will see if the chain has moved? In the meantime i will be fitting a new cts sensor and egr cheater just to eliminate any problems these sensors throw up. Hope all this work provides a solution to this ongoing problem notsure.gif
