humbucker was the conclusion that it works on win7 64 bit? and which diagnostic tool on this link (that you mentioned) would work on my 03 astra 2.2 (and hopefully my omega, although not sure about the cavalier 🙁 ) http://stores.ebay.co.uk/easybid2000_Opel-Vauxhall-Diagnostic_W0QQ_fsubZ1135670017QQ_sidZ552652107QQ_trksidZp4634Q2ec0Q2em322

humbucker ah sorry my mistake, thought that day had been and gone! look forward to hearing whether you get any joy or not. my friend just picked up a tech2 at a stupid price so i might be calling on his services soon, but it would be good to have something "less expensive" at home. i'd like a tech1 or something to read the cavalier too, not sure if any of those diagnostic tools you pointed out on fleabay will do the trick. will have to delve a bit deeper i think...
karl_hodder hi sorry to crash your conversation but i bought cheap elm 327 from ebay and running fine on windows 7, found pro scan 5.0 ran pretty good and manages to read all car vitals plus diagnose codes and reset eml, good tool to have when running one of these engines saves a fortune in long term, anyone in gwent south wales area welcome for problem diagnose.
karl_hodder yeh software ran on my laptop no problem and still works fine now, there is a little desktop gadget u can use which monitors serial ports or usb converted serial ports, this saves a lot of hastle finding out if the drivers have been installed ok, look for ftdi chip it lets tells u what and if a port is connected
Matt dodger said: Did the software run ok on your laptop Matt? Software runs fine mate, so will see if the hardware runs OK tomorrow, and if it does, I'll be buying one!
Matt Tested the hardware out yesterday, and the drivers wouldn't install on Windows 7 64bit
Matt It could see the hardware, but none of the drivers would work. I tried the AMD 64bit one in the folder, as I have an AMD processor in my laptop, and it wasn't a valid driver for the hardware. Oh well, never mind. At least we tried.
Daz Alys is set up to dual boot, so we can use the epc of mikes.... I just partitoned her drive into 2 and installed xp on the other parttion, now when the pc starts it gives us the option of which to use
