Comp can do both short and long cams on inlets and/or exhaust (with the hex pressed or not), you'll just need to specify them what you want

this is appropriate to the saab head members specifically
I have spoken to comp cam tech Matt Summerfield who stated that LSJ/SAAB owners can specify two inlets (long) cams per set at net same price

Ah ok. I thought it was some kind of exotic mix of stage 3 inlet with a lower stage outlet... :razz:

Anyways, I'm tempted by a set of stage 1 cams.

im not really sure what im gonna need but stage 1 sounds good, i got a cat back performance exhaust and next was remap but is it best getting the cams in first then? and maybe some other engine mods too? i really wanna keep it N/A (for the time being) 😃

I have the SuperTech double valve springs, very good quality stuff :thumbup:

EDIT : actually most springs manufacturers recommend 1.5mm between coil bind and max lift notsure.gif

Right. Newbie wants in! Have astra SRI 2.2 with vectra c intake pipe, air box mod, k&n pannel filter (£3.00 ebay bargain!), polished+ported TB, Chris Tullett exhaust manifold, Piper sport cat pipe and Miltek cat back. I want a cam set to take me to 200BHP so will stage 1 comp cams get me there? If i went stage 3 which SuperTech double valve springs would i need? (vocky?). Also on the wish list is 2.4 inlet manifold. Just off the subject, when fitting the throttle body i noticed alot of oil collecting in the bottom of the inlet manifold, is this normal? Have invested in a catch tank to try and stop this happening but thought this may just be a quick fix for something more sinister? How do i go about joining the group buy for comp cams? Would stage 2 comp cams get me 200bhp if so would i need to change the valve springs? (Atom X?)

Ture, they can do it, but it does not count as a "off the shelf kit" anymore, which means the price is MUCH higher. Trust me, I found out the hard when when I ordered a set for a guy in Spain and ended up with a 300$+ loss when I got my invoice 30 days later....

Neil has the prices in his e-mail, hopefully he will post them soon if not I'll post it up.

Still waiting on the comp pricing which should be here today I hope.

EDIT: I'm going to double check my invoice to get the exact $ I was charged more for the 2 long cams and double check the grind # to make sure it was for the same sutff as long/short.

Also to add to the part where "When do I need better springs"

In my opinion, stock springs are good for about 6900-7000RPM or so... Stage 1 cams set you in right around 7000 RPM.. which is semi fine. You DONT need it with stage 1, but its a GOOD idea if you have the extra money to spend on them.

I would say anything higher than stage 1 you NEED better springs... I have had a few guys run stage 3 cams with stock springs and they got lucky a few times but sooner or later all that pressure will cause big problems (valves dropping and kaaaaBOOM!)....

SuperTech 78lb Spring Kit = $350 (no min)

Wiseco Pistons (8.9:1 and 10:1 stock or .020 overbore) = $465 (min 5 needed)

Wiseco Custom Pistons (11:1 or other compression not listed above) = $550 (min 3 needed)

Same as above BUT coated pistons = $575 (min 3 needed)

AllEcotec Valves stock or +1mm = $185 (no min)

The car will be running at on the RR event lets see how it performs but it should be over 200bhp
