engine cutting out

any ideas??? only happens on a rare occation when im braking hard from speed say when you come up to a roundabout.
engine just completly dies, then of course you loose the brakes!! not sure could it master cylinder or something like that.bit disconcerting to be hounest. :wtf: ????

brand new mate.
its always happened to be hounest but hasnt done it for a while.its only if i put alot of pressure on the pedal when braking, and obviously for a long period i.e braking from speed.

I had this happen to me tonight for the 2nd time in almost 2 years. I was on a ring road challenge and was heavy braking approaching the roundabout just about to drop down a gear and as I dipped the clutch along with the braking the engine just died and the ignition lights came on. I let the clutch back out again whilst still in gear and the engine sprang back to life.

I don't know what causes it but mines the same as yours.

if it was air leak it would be doing it all the time once warm

i had this happen to my girlfriends's KA and the software on my laptop enabled me to see that the mixture lambda was not pulsing correctly thus overfueling hence why it cut out after revving

I have had it happen six times in 123k, no serious mods.

Do both of yours idle ok.

maybe you were low on fuel and breaking moved the fuel from the pump

dunno wouldnt have thought so,
tho my astra cant travel up hill and left at the same time quickly when the fuel light is on throws fuel to wrong part of tank 😃

This happens on the VXR's running uprated fuel pumps. They don't like less than a 1/4 tank of petrol and can cause stalling when going round corners fast.

TBH, my car runs on around 20ltrs or less fuel unless i'm going on a big journey somewhere. I would have expected a spluttery stop to the engine if it was a fuel problem? Mine just dies when I put the clutch in under heavy braking???

Had it happen again yesterday though this time i wouldnt say hard braking and with around £50 fuel in.
Bump started but revs up and down barely ticking over at lights, just reved it up and settled to normal.

this happens on my new build too! its some sort of vacuum problem from what i can tell as the z20net has to use a vacuum pump.
