Centre section or not???

Seeing as the wadding from my Milltek centre section has left the building, I now have a rather large empty box under my car. Is it worth replacing/repacking or should I just get the middle cut out and replaced with a 2.5 inch straight through pipe?

I've never been a fan of straight through pipes but I don't see the point in having a centre section if its going to get its guts blown out every 6 months by forced induction.

What do you think?

its gonna be noisy ,just like mine ,when i get my hoffman on im gonna get a middle box stuck in make it a tad quieter,should improve things with my back pressure as well.
if you can live with noise go for it ,otherwise is there anyone that does specialised reinforced middle boxes to cope with it

on my cally when i fitted a decat it killed centre sections within months

personally i would have a centre silencer jonny as if your not a great fan of noise and boom then it will wind u up

TBH, I can accept a certain level of noise as it comes with the territory as they say, but I would prefer a centre box really. Its just the repacking that would get on my nerves. I've had a quote from Chris Tullet a while back and it was almost £500 for a bespoke repackable centre section.

i think the centre section is on its way out on mine an was wondering if its worthing putting
a straight through c/s would it be loud with a standard irmy back box? does it ad couple of horses ? dunno..

After months of should I shouldn't I, i've finally booked the car in the have the centre box removed and a 2.5 inch S/S tube put in place. I can't see it being much louder than what's there already in fairness, the centre box is empty anyway. I got half day holiday to look after Jack on Monday so we're off out to LongLife for the afternoon.

I wouldn't expect a lot in terms of gains, but as far as noise is concerned with an irmy B/Box it wont be very loud, mine was quite quiet... until i put an after market B/Box on. 😃

last month i got my centre section replaced with a stainless steel one, £180 from Tyre Spot (Newcastle) Dunno if this is pricey for what it is. Still cheaper than the replacement OE centre section. £190 they wanted at Vauxhall :x and that was only mild steel.
It does give the car a sportier tone when booting it but casual driving it sounds a little bit blowy, ive heard thats normal.

sounds like a tank when cold but sounds much better when warm
any suggestions on what backbox to use ? got a remus str/thru centre section.

My Irmy backbox seems to work well with the s/s centre section, but mines not straight through though.

I've got a remus centre section on mine (straight through) with irmy letterbox and it sounds just nice no too loud, also seems to have improved torque a little in the mid range
