My boiler made an awful noise last week. Chris was using the hot water and she said that it sounded like things were rattling round and then there was a big bang and the hot water stopped. I came home from work to find the pilot light out and the reset button popped up.
I reset the button and got the pilot light back on. I then turned the hot tap on and within 10 seconds the boiler made a fuckin big bang whilst I was looking thru' the eye hole at the burners. I jumped back and turned the tap off. The reset button came out again and the pilot light went out again.
We then called British Gas. They came out on Friday and found that it was lime scale causing the problem which led to the boiler overheating. They did a full service and all is well now.
