he means hook up a pipe mounted to the engine or chassis to let the vapours / fumes vent into the atmosphere normally [run it off cam cover breather]
i remember on the nova's where the crank breather was routed into the air box that sat on top of the carb, when u fitted a bolt on k&N u use to block off that pipe or let it vent normally into the atmosphere lol, the amount of gunk all over my gearbox where the pipe was pointing down was nuts
going back to the EVAP system i cant believe if u unplug it the ECU light comes on and as a result u will fail any MOT
my missus has an EVAP system on her 1.4 corsa r plate and it is fricking joke with the emissions controls, fricking EGR valve, catalytic convertor, TPS & ICV, O2 sensor, FS it is a single cam 1.4 and then run like a charm with a carb and dizzy but oh no chuck on loads of sensors for emissions control and it runs like a bag of shite
