I should be picking up some mirror polished stainless tomorow so ill see if i can get a set made by the end of the week and get some pics and prices up :thumbup:

What will you be using to cut the hole for the resovoir cap? If I were to give you the diameter of my polished cap, could you cut a hole in it to my specified size as a 1 off?

Ill probably sandwich the stainless in two bits of ply then run a hole saw through it. Failing that plasma cutter!

What is your after then? do you already have a cover that needs a hole in it? sry if i got the rong end of the stick :wtf:

Its a long story! I used to have a brake fluid resovoir cover. I had it fitted but I used to find that because the cap would bite down on the cover before it sealed the resovoir, the brake fluid would seep out from the cap. I took it off and gave it away.

Now i've read that you maybe making some, I was thinking that you could cut a hole diameter to the OD of my cap so that the cap goes through the hole in the SS cover and seals down properly on the resovoir whilst the SS cover will be located around the OD of the cap.

Does that make sense?

Perfect sense and is a very good point. If thats the case ill do it for all the new ones i make . Theres no point in making them if its going to leak brake fluid. Just out of curiosity what thickness was the cover you had?

IIRC it was 1.5mm. My cap is a custom polished cap so its not going to be the same dia. as a standard one. Give me 5 minutes and i'll go out and take a picture.

Here's my old cover with standard cap...

Here's my current new cap...

Both caps, standard and custom have an OD of 54mm. Problem with the standard cap is that unless the cap bites down on the cover then the cover will be able to come off. With my custom cap, the OD is stepped as you can see in the 2nd picture. This wouls stop the cover coming up over the cap thus keeping it secure.

Theres always plan b too, Double sided tape :thumbup: That'l hold him. I see what you meen now and if your alloy cap is the same size as standard ill cut the hole to suit on the ones i make then it'l be up to the individual to on how they wish to stick it down. I think it should work out good. Thanks for taking the pics too.

Those 1.5mm double sided number plate things would do the job.

Yea definatly. Theres rolls of it at work so i might pre stick on them one side so all that'l have to be done is clean the brake res then peel off the backing and stick it on. Jobs a good'un.

Yea down pipe would be a good one. Thats something im planning to do before long.

Need to know where to get flange from for manifold end tho?

Then would it be better to integrate the cat or fit a flange on the end to have the cat as a seperate section?

I wont be able to do them just yet but its deffinatly on my to do list :thumbup:
