Idle dropping to 500rpm, Need Help badly!!

Hello this is my first post on here as i've become a member only today!

I was directed to this site by Rushy over at Vectra-c.com, and my problem is as follows. . .

Has my car over 2 month now and from day one its had a problem with returning to idle correctly. Instead of the 800 or so it returns to 500 for a few seconds then back to normal idle. i have a video of the Rev counter (post link at the bottom) showing its magic.

After replacing the Fuel pump, Fuel filter, Air filter, Cleaning the airbox, Cleaning TBody and checking for air intake blockages the problem still persisted!

So on the advice of Rushy i went to vauxhall and bought a blanking plate for the EGR valve. now after fitting this its showing my EML when i drive. Just seen your cheater and i'm not sure what you mean by it.

Plus power is crappy low down but picks up brill high up the counter. This a problem with this engine. Only has cars fuelled from the 'Dark Side' before buying the Veccy so i'm not so 'upto date' on things.

Is the engine actually dropping it's revs, or is it just the rpm display showing the drop?

No the engine is dropping the revs as if its going to stall. this problems starting t become a head ache now.

did you remove the EGR valve complately? if so then thats the reason. Plug it back in and try again 🙂

No. its still plugged in and screwed ontop of the blanking plate ofset by one nut. do i need this 'EGR Cheat' i've read about plus i've also read somewhere about the Coolant senser being an issue for my reason.

Yea going to say the EGR still needs to be plugged into the electrics. The cheater is Vockys little magic box of tricks so you can take the EGR out of the loom completely.

Well i better order one they hard to fit? electronics was never my strongist point.

Mines just blanked mate and still connected to the loom as the valve worked, I only blocked it as a pre-emptive measure.

If the valve is stuck and not moving, then it'll definately need to be removed and replaced with a cheater!

for a start wiring up something is NOT electronics.. its electrical (there is a difference)
and 2ndly its not witch craft despite what people think.

use search facility on forum and u will come across picture of how to wire it up

i'm not bad at wiring at all. (when its simplish) but on some of the control panels i used to mess with in boiler houses i got abit confused.com

Just been outside and opened the lid on the tank and yeah valve is well and truely jammed. so i'll be ordering a EGR cheater at the weekend. been living on brass buttons and a mars bar i found in my glove box! ROLL ON PAYDAY!

Thing is you didn't have a fault light before you blanked it, am I right? If so and if you still kept it connected to the loom then have you given the valve enough room to move when you hung it off the side if you know what I mean. The EGR still needs to operate so the ECU doesn't throw a fit.

Hello again guys, Ordered my cheater the other day and waiting for it to arrive. Now. wanting to change the CTS but the New Nugget down at vauxhall didnt know what i was on about and came up with 'Full heating tank and sensor'

Anyone know the part number for the 'Troublesome' CTS?

Who do i need to speak to about the EGR Cheater. ordered mine the other week and it still hasnt arrived.

Left it this long due to Royal mail strikes but waiting a bit long now.

Never mind, found it. You have have got an e-mail from the shop last night saying it had been posted. Vocky has had to order some new supplies to make these, and there was a delay in them being supplied. This was posted last night.

Ok no problem guys. not been on for a while you see. well as i know now theres no rush. just one more thing. . .

Does any of you 2 know the part number to that CTS Valve? as vauxhall at rochdale employ numptys! lol.
