Can you just humour me on this......

If you are pushing the gases through a perforated pipe and the wadding is absorbing the sound and allowing the gases to pass freely to the atmosphere, this is good.

If you are pushing the gases through a perforated pipe and into an empty box, causing the gases to flow around before exiting to atmosphere, does this then not slow down the flow of gases causing loss of power??

my magnex back box is huge and i can hear the exhaust gases being pushed out on gear changes

i changed over on to a straight through back box and lost loads of low end torque

so changed back

if the cat back is the same manufacturer then it has had hundred's of hours designing it and tweaking it for it to run right

Milltek and Magnex were virtually the same. The chap who owns Milltek used to run Magnex. The Vectra B Milltek system was indeed tested rigorously as it was developed in conjunction with Courtenay Sport and the developement car was Donny's from VVOC. The system was never intended for forced induction application. The materials used in a NA exhaust are very different from materials used in forced induction exhausts. The wadding on FI is interwoven material very much like carbon fibre in its raw state.

Jon Shield did mention all the vx220 owners out and about without any wadding in there exhausts. This is the reason that Chris Tullett has come up with the repackable system for the vx220. Its never going to be solved so the next best thing is to make a repackable unit available so that you can fill it yourself.

might be worth going to a custom exhaust place like MIJ who specialise in FI exhaust systems for evo's / scooby's

Just enjoy your car and if you can live with the noise then dont worry.

I am suprised that Milltek are not bothered about this though, even though it was for N/A application.

I doubt there is a single bhp difference in the power, it's just the noise levels which will be different dunno..

Took it to work today. Got up early and took it for a drive. 6:15am, didn't have to be in until 7am and i live 5 minutes away. Along the ring road boost reading 16psi. I'm falling in love again............slowly. lol!

Its not so bad. It does have a rather sexy exhaust note whilst under load. It has made a different tone since the blow from the flange has been sorted.
