I agree with Rob, there is a lot more to being an electrician than just thrashin cables and terminating them. you have to work out cable calculations to makes sure they're not overloading and there are loads of other little bits that can often be overlooked when doing a "crash course" just put the time in and get qualified the proper way. It'll be worth it mate.
spot on rod, i am not saying that them courses are crap they just dont go in to detail on how electrcity works!
putting in the wrong size cables are a major fire hazard!
if i was you i would enrol yourself on the 2330 level 2 course on full time (which is 3 days max a week) or do the 1 day a week for 2 years then go onto the level 3 course you are then a competent person to work on electrics but you still need your stuff signed off
