Balance Shaft Deletion - With Bushes or with Bearing?

I have just finished rewmoving the balance chain from my eng, I have left the shafts in the eng. It required nothing but a few mods and a bit of hard work. Got pic's of how to do it just have to get around to posting them in the how to's.

I have done mine like vocky done his running the short chain, only is till have the balance shafts in the eng.
Will be going electric pump later on.

Yep i'll post them later on :?: :?: at the moment trying to get the astra back together & once it's in then sort out the cam timing also still trying to work out where i am going to put the hi performance fuel pump & surge tank under the car notsure.gif

hi guys, im just info gathering at this point, but is the balancer shaft job hard/long to do if im just knockin them into the engine and doing wotever i need to do with the oil feed? its a defo possibility for one of my planned mods, since from what i can see, a free mod which gives 10bhp. BONUS cheers..

the hardest bit is getting the engine out to get access to the shafts, otherwise it takes 10 minutes

i read somewhere that they dont actually have to be removed from the engine, is there a way of diabling them that doesnt require the engine bein removed? or is there simply just no room to manoveur when its in the car? havnt had a look yet, as the motor is still at the garage waituin to be put on the ramp. is the vibration that they cancel noticable and does it cause any long term damage?

it's just not possible to get them out or push the rear bearings backwards with the engine in place

you might be able to drop the engine down to get enough room dunno..

vibration is minor and no long term damage, a guy in the states has driven over 60,000 miles with the balancer delete installed 😃

now that would be a great help, my engine isnt actually in the car yet, but i dont think the mechanics will do that for me before they put it in, theyr a bit grumpy, and its taking long enuf for them to get the flipppin car up on the ramp just to start it, burned thru half my warranty as it is just havin the stuff sittin there, lookin pretty, lol

well my new shafts thurned up today which i am sending off to get cut down.
has anyone got a pic of it cut down so i know where to tell them,

I still have the balance shaft's in my eng back on the road now 😃 . You have to remove the eng to remove the shaft that is near the water pump so that you can cut the section off the shaft that holds the sprocket on etc etc etc :roll: . To me not much sence still running the sprockets & long chain go the hole hog & only run the water pump :evil: , it did make a diff power wise by the seat of the pants feel :mrgreen: got to go to the dyno yet still. YES I HAVE PIC'S I'LL TRY & POST UP SOME OVER THE WEEKEND BUT REMEMBER THIS IS A ON THE RUN PROTOTYPE MOD, going to wash the astra now THURSDAY NITE'S CRUISE NITE :twisted:
