As per build book; to use LSJ/Saab pistons in the 2,2 you need special rods. Not sure on the pin height either...

Vocky, are you sure the Z22YH pistons have a normal shape ? normally DI pistons have some fancy shape, just like the LNF (opel GT) ones

Dr Lee has a z22yh engine stripped down, I have held a z22yh piston in my hand so can confirm it looks almost identical to my 11:1 wiseco pistons, just the valve pockets missing and the fact the yh piston has a coating on the skirt.

I would have bought a set of yh pistons if I had known !

the cylinder head is very, very weird though, eight inlet ports !

Techieboy, Joe and the 'Harrop engine build' have all had the rebore done :thumbup:

I assembled the head today 😃

a quick pic of the valve seat machining

fitted the valves, after lubricating the valve stems, also added the valve spring seats and GM oil seals

added the springs, titanium retainers and single groove collets

added the hydraulic lifters and followers

next job was to fit the compcams sc camshafts, these add 30 bhp :wtf:

I also loosely fitted the GM adjustable cam sprockets, obviously they will have to come back off to fit the cam chain :thumbup:

I added the cam cover to make sure all was ok

then I made a blanking plate to cover the exhaust cam housing end plate.
I decided to use a M10 bolt (with thread sealant added) this time to blank off the oil way, I added a stainless locking wire to ensure a) the bolt does not fall out and b) nobody in the future will decide to use the bolt as a mounting for something.

A very good question, it's going to Courtenay's to get the mapping sorted so I don't know dunno..

To be honest a standalone ecu might be a good idea, something like an Emerald notsure.gif

I think they used VXR injectors on Nick's, 470cc
what I am not sure is if they are a twin spray pattern like the stock/LSJ/LSJ stage 2 ones or not notsure.gif

the last set I looked at in a stage 2 sc kit had four holes in the injectors rather than the z22se two hole injectors
