My Gsi Project (Now Painted)

Not much happening with the Gsi today. I did manage to get hold of a bumper reinforcer bar so I stripped down the damaged parts and tried the new bumper bar on. All went well, it's going good so far. I have a bonnet coming next week and the new rad pack, so all that will be left to get are the headlights and front bumper. I did find my actuator bar bent today, so I just bent it straight again. 🙂

For someone who doesnt hang about and is experianced in these things.... you really havent much to do have you?
Looks like your going to have one hell of a nice car when finished...(& in the best colour)

It's flying along nicely 🙂. Not much to do on it now. I was thinking of giving it an under body wax to help it out over the years to come, and the winters. I just wish I had all the parts and it would have been built up today. Lack of funds now til pay day lol

That dent will be getting sorted when it goes in for paint work 🙂. I nearly got a medium size intercooler for it last night.

Well tonight me and my brother put a new bonnet on the Gsi and after a bit of messing around we got it fitting good. It was dark when my brother came round but we managed 🙂

Well I got my radiator for the car today with some new oil and filters, pollen filter. I will have that fitted up for the weekend. All thats needed next is a Gsi bumper and headlights then paint work. It's been an easy repair this car, very happy with it 🙂

I'm after a favour.....

Next time you have a front wheel off could you measure the distance between the front brake caliper mounting bolts for me ? (just measure from the top of one bolt to the top of the other bolt OR the bottom of both bolts) and from the point where the caliper touches the bolt mounting on the hub to the rear of the disc

Lol, I will do my best Neil. I have to take the wheel off anyway as the front passenger side is now flat, must have a slow puncture

looking good mate but spending all that time on fittiing the bonnet right as it will have to come off for paint lol. oh well at least it looks good.

I know, I wish I could have given him the car to paint it as it was on the car. I could do with the rear quarter painted on the drivers side as it has 3 scratches on it :roll:

Well today I fitted the new rad, topped it up with antifreeze and run the car for a while to see if all was well. It runs very good 🙂. I just found out yesterday that it does not need a VIC check, so that another good thing and I have sent off for the V5. I changed the pollen filter yesterday and I will be doing an oil change on it tomorrow with new filter. It only needs a new bumper and headlights to finish...

I can't wait drool.gif . Here is how it looks now with the rads fitted. I've just been under the car and gave the car a good undersealing 8) , even the sump as it was looking a little rusy dunno.. . Just lights and bumper to go cheers..

I want to keep it. It's in mint condition, tidy underneath, tidy outside, leather seats are mint, miles are decent. It's in better condition than some of my other cars I have had. My plans still yet to come are........

Pre Cat pipe mod (Remove cat)
Stainless exhaust system
Irmscher Grill
18 Inch wheels (Vauxhall, Corsa Vxr or Vxr snowflakes)
Good alarm system
Better intercooler (Medium)
Blue pipe work under the bonnet
Air box mod (1.9 cdti Mk5 Astra)
Stage 1 tune
Then maybe a Tubular manifold and Garret Turbo, but not sure on that yet 🙂
