Had a few problems getting this going (it was going fine and then suddenly died) - actually caused by me running the engine too rich while tuning (i figured it was safest) and coking up the plugs so much they arced inside 🙁
It also looks like the 2 missing teeth are after TDC, not before - so my timing was 18 degrees advanced. It would explain why it was so hard to start!
But, today I did get it going (turns out I needed some code for cold starts to run it rich for a few secs and get it starting reliably). Managed a 30 mile drive to my folks and back, and bloody hell, the sound is absolutely awesome at WOT, it's so addictive 😃
Currently I'm not getting as much power as I had hoped for, but the spark timing is way off. 3 degrees before TDC -> 9 degrees @ 6000rpm/WOT. I'm a bit anxious because it feels like it may be knocking even at that at some revs, so next step is to get the knock detection set up. I don't suppose there are some lists of standard spark timings anywhere? I was using ones from my dad's Lotus Excel, but that used to run on carbs + 4* and I think that 5 degree -> 12 at 6000rpm/WOT (iirc) is a bit optimistic.
... and then I have to fiddle with the cam timing 😃
No decent video yet (not found a way to hold the cam into the car, and no pax seat yet), but a pretty boring screenshot of the viewer app, just showing me coming back down the road and into the drive.
Top-left is the fuel map, which is coming along nicely, and then a whole load of traces for different stuff being monitored. That's going on a palmtop on the dash soon though, so I don't have to pull over and grab the laptop whenever I want to tweak stuff :ugeek:
