chains are slighty more noisy imo, i have owned about 6 vxhalls all belted and i know also the 200sx even though in prime condition does make a slight noise from the chain
thing to watch out for is nasty metal banging noise, sounds like someone hitting a chisel on the cam cover 🙂
also there is a little mini pump connected to the side of airbox that makes a bit of noise when operating
