Apparently the joke is deliberate and supposed to be a 'feature' of the 'throttle-by-wire' crap . Like Windows 10, embrace progress to run backwards.

That's unbearable and makes the car undriveable. Furthermore, sabotaging the VX220 / Speedsters with this prank should be regarded as a crime against humanity.

Looks like our american cousins were similarly 'blessed' on their L61 version of the engine. But this guy managed to solve it :
