Well after months and months of hunting I have booked my vectra c z22yh in for a Remap on the 8th August........
It currently has K&N panel filter with airbox mod, Full 2.5" Twin catback system (magnex), Its just had a major service, new Pi suspension 45mm front 40mm rear and a hunters alignment. So thought its time to get it mapped.
After months of emails, calls and visits I shortlisted 2 companies that are able to remap the simtec 81.1 ecu on my z22yh and another guy from a vaux forum.
The guy from the forum remapped his own 2.2 direct auto and had a fantastic result with a performance panel filter and a catback exhaust, No figures as he hasnt RR'ed it. But feels alot smoother with a better power curve and low down torque.....But after a month he was having fuelling problems but this was sorted by removing the map and re-installing it. He is now getting around 30mpg around town ans still has a smile on his face.........Problem is he is up north and would charge £225 with lifetime warranty on the map etc etc but a drive away.
Second was Black codes in shrewsbury, They have never done a simtec 81.1 and had to read my ecu and send the info of to there head office to be looked at. After 2 weeks of waiting they called to say they can map it etc and to expect about a 15bhp gain from standard with the mods I currently have and about 8-10lb torque.......Cost was £325+vat
Last one is one recommended to me by a few people....Midland remaps. They seem to know about the simtec 81.1 ecu and was able to answer all my question etc without pause. He also said to expect around a 15 bhp over standard increase with 10lb torque increase....But he explained that the biggest gain will be the overall drivability of the car after regarding the power curve, low down torque and smoothing out the flat spots. So if I gain 8-15 bhp Thats a bonus as tbh just getting a better delivery with less flatspots would be nice lol........Currently have an offer on obd custom maps for £179
So I have chosen to go with midland remaps as they are local, seemed to know about the engine and of course for once the better priced. It also comes with a 14 day moneyback if not happy and of course a lifetime warranty on the map..........
I will updated on the 8th aug and try and get it on the rollers to see what I get.
