Has anyone any idea what a full exchange engine weighs, would it be feasible to collect one in the boot of car/hatchback?

hi there , this aint gomma be much help to you really but i have no idea what the weight of the engine is , but my suggestion is to forget about taking it in the boot as i really doubt it will fit in physically . even if it did it wont be good to get it out/in without damaging it , or your hatchback car.

the better way would be to either put it in a decent trailer and take it that way , or hire a transit or something similar, again the problems would be getting it out easily.

I seem to remember them weighing 140 Kg, but not sure if thats fully kitted or bare block

I have used the boot for carrying engines, it will cause some damage unless you chuck some carpet into the wheel well

also use some more carpet for covering the bumper / boot cill

I would advise you to use an engine hoist, if not two strong chaps should lift it out easily

If I remember Health and Safety guidelines correctly its 25Kgs max per person so in theory thats 6 people. showo..

well i have a recollection that it may have been reduced again to 20kg now , however im not too sure. Before you know it we'll need a two man team just open the bonnet
