Z22SE Z22SE Can't Pass Emissions

Hello,

I have a 2002 Astra Convertible with the Z22SE engine, which currently cannot pass emissions. Stuff I have done:
- New spark plugs
- New ignition coil unit
- New O2 sensors
- New universal catalytic converter for engines up to 2.5 liters (old one was cut out)
- Fresh 10W40 oil, filters, and MANNOL Motor Doctor additive
- Checked EGR, it works
- Revved the engine out on the highway several times

There is no smoke when idling or at low RPMs and emissions are okay in that range. However, when revving up at around 4k RPMs there is blue-grayish smoke. The CO reading when revving is 0.4. There is also P0420 fault code. Odo shows 230k kilometers though I think someone might have changed the engine sometime in the past.

Is there anything else I can do? Apologies if there are any mistakes in writing, not a native speaker. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried an air filter as well as the other things you have done.

I had this problem as well . Mot tester told me new spark plugs, air filter and usually i do clean oil to help with the emissions.

It's part of the push to get the old cars off the road , as well as the low emission zones.

Post the full test results. A single number is meaningless.

Aftermarket cars are often crap.
Sorry for the late reply. From the latest test - CO at idle is 0.30 (max allowed is 0.50), at 2000 RPM CO is 0.47 (max allowed is 0.30) and HC is 221 (max allowed is 100). Also now that I have been driving more I noticed oil level has dropped (so it consumes oil). I presume that it is something big (valve seals or oil rings?) then.

Yep, the new air filter was one of the first things I did, the old one wasn't too dirty either. Also, regarding emissions, the irony is, had this Astra been 2 years older, I would've passed with no problem (lower requirements)
