Top Gear GTC VXR

Finally got round to watching the VXR/ST/Megan section on last weeks Top Gear.

I find it hard to believe the ST wiped the floor with the VXR in the 3 way sprint

No doubt the person driving the VXR has Sport & VXR mode turned off like the usually do.

or like when the vxr was first featured and they used a sri with vxr body kit! top gear doesnt like vauxhalls much but big on fords! this new gtc is using an engine based on the z22se castings

as above, they seem to plug Ford over Vauxhall every time

have been looking at one for ages even have it as my desktop background
just cant afford it at the moment

Same here. Plus I've almost paid off my current VXR, and there is nothing really wrong with it, so I couldn't really justify the extra expense for a new one.

That picture next to the MK5 VXR shows how dated the MK5 actually looks now, and how designs have evolved.

And add in the MK4 the shape has changed a fair bit. Haven't seen this episode yet will catch up this weekend.

I watched it last night and was shocked to hear JC say how good he thought the Astra was, honestly thought he would be favoring the Ford or the RS Megane.

£27 k brand new is a bit steep but if I was in the market I wouldn't think twice about it. Dem wheels man!

I love everything about the new VXR. It does look like they have learned a lot from the MK5 and added everything that was missing from that model (diff, brembo, better exhaust).

Will be good to see what Courtenay Sport etc can do with the engine once it's been out a while over here. I know in the US it's a popular engine, and 450BHP is quite easy to achieve.
