Supercharger with standard airbox?

Hello all,

Has anyone with a SC conversion on a VX220 kept the standard airbox rather than fit a cone filter? If not do you think it might fit/be made to fit?

Having watched a few vids of SC'd cars I think the whine might get on my tits after a while and an airbox could help to calm it down a bit.

Thanks in advance! (y)

you could i suppose... but would require a 90 degree bend i think due to lack or room
but the whine has nothing to do with the airbox

It doesn't make the noise constantly. Only when you're on WOT, during normal driving and cruising, it makes no appreciable noise.

I don't think the standard airbox would work well on a sc conversion, the angle of the outlet isn't right to align to the sc throttle body

you could however use a vxT airbox or similar dunno..

You can use the standard airbox, but you need to modify and relocate it.
I fitted a larger, flared air entry pipe and shortened/flared the internal pipe.
And the supercharger whine is no more... (y)

But not sure if it will stay this way. Found a way to battle the whine AND have a big intake filter => Harrop charger. :D
(Maybe I will use the Cobalt-SS LSJ intake box, as that is big with a round filter and should be a very easy fit.)
