Just ordered a reverse camera for the Astra. It goes in the place of one of the rear number plate lights

Coming from China, so should be here in a couple of weeks.

Awsome stuff Matt :)
When you're reversing will the Reverse camera view be displayed automatically on your Head Unit?
Yeah, the head unit is connected via the CAN adapter, which has a reverse signal from it. Will just need to take power for the camera from the reverse bulb so it's only on when reverse is selected, and job done.

Yeah, I found the links to the camera on VXROnline, and I like the idea of a nice stealthy install without having to mess about drilling the rear bumper.

Thats a tidy bit of kit (y) Very nice.

Has someone got one fitted with the feed coming from the reverse bulb feed?

Reason i ask is usualy with bulb check if you put an extra load on one bulb it'l put a check light/warning on the dash? dunno..

Fitted the reverse camera today. Pretty straight forward, apart from a slightly dodgy RCA cable from the camera to the HU, that I thought was originally faulty, but got working in the end

I took the power feed from the ignition live, underneath the cig lighter socket, rather than messing about with the rear bulbs (plug my boost gauge is already wired in there)

Not of the reverse light mate. The connects2 can adaptor I have provides a reverse signal to the HU, which switches to the reverse screen.

I like that Matt, you did a good job there.

Did you clean the behind the bumper while it was off?

No mate, I didn't have enough time. Bumper is really easy to remove anyway, so will be doing it during the summer months after seeing how bad it was.
