how did you find using the vacuum pump after drawing from inlet with the brakes? something i'm thinking of doing when i build the next car and scrap the red corsa.

it was an improvement its still piped to the inlet also just as a fail safe if the pump goes also helps with the 370mm disc and brembos

I had alternator built smaller than my original 170amp 120 on tickover

fit straight under 2.4 manifold no cutting or spacers

how well do those alternators fit with the charge cooler manifold?
ive been running one for ages far better than the cutting the bolt off and it fits with just 3 bolts some pics below of it altho the one from the a20nht is 140amp the one i imported was a 5 rib 120amp :)

the work continues
a/c pumps left (astra g) middle (vectra c) right (insignia) notice the larger hole is at the front on the insignia and also square cut like the vectra c
WP_20180510_14_38_58_Pro.jpg

i had previously tried to fit the vec c pump and had a set of z20let pipes it was a failed attempt back then but now after turning both pipe 180* in the fitting the let pipes fitted the insignia pump and missed the rad and inlet
WP_20180510_16_38_19_Pro.jpg

and still a bit of room left down there lol
WP_20180510_16_38_26_Pro.jpg

the 1st try with the alternator on the cs bracket the 6 rib belt hit the alternator pulley it was then apparent something else needed to be done

corsaZ22se heres the gap on the inlet from the front
WP_20180510_20_58_57_Pro.jpg

after much arse scratching i decided to try again with the a20nht alternator bracket i had to make some modifications the the bracket to get the alternator off the rad pack but the belt run is now how i have always wanted it to be (need a shorter belt in the pic)

another pic of the alternator gap

you can get a 300amp alternator on a z22se :) i fitted one to an "audio car" about 4years ago

Thanks Carl.
I know you fitted a 300amp one to an Astra G, I went to have a look at it to buy it but it was way to big to fit the Corsa without heavy cutting/welding to subframe :(
2x 140's will be better than just a single 100 amp.
should be able to get some bigger power cables on one of those as well?? :)
Is there a part number on it please?

that thing was a whopper the bracket i made was perfect for mounting to the a/c pump holes

measured the difference with the a20nht belt and figured it was 90mm to long that ment it was a 6pk 1903

it was a bit chunky!
would have been great for the audio car with the variable output regulator as well.
cheers for the part number, will order one soon.
that tool you made looks a lot like the one i made up. standard 3/8" bar will not go in between chassis leg and adjuster on the Corsa :( small ratchet strap and engine lift bar works too

It all looks a bit tight in there now.

(That's also what I said to my wife 23 years ago... ouch!)
i would get a slap for saying something like that especially to your wife lol :)

bit more done on the astra not much progress was just not feeling the mojo
wet sanded the rocker cover

inlet was washed out and the laminovers reinstalled dipstick moved to fit the new alternator location
lower pump and bracket fitted then the lower wiring looms

Incidentally, have you had to reroute your air-con pipes on the Astra Carl?

I know with the supercharger conversion for the Vectra B, Courtenay's do this.

originally no the pipe was just bent out of the way of the inlet on the new setup with the insignia pump ive had to changed the pipes to astra g 2l turbo pipes and turn the pipes 180 in the fitting to match the pump
with the time and effort that went into the climate control retro fit it was worth keeping the a/c :)

few of the little bits done today
water pipes to the inlet
WP_20180513_18_00_53_Pro.jpg

top part of the loom plugged in and the charger bolted down the belts on and its staying on now lol
WP_20180513_18_00_39_Pro.jpg

next up water loop and then ex manifold

so finally got round to doing the cooling loop
decided to keep the thermostat and mount the pump in the link tube side to retain the standard loop this way i wont need the booster pump for the heaters
added a tube to the thermostat housing
WP_20180521_17_46_58_Pro.jpg

going to be tight
WP_20180521_21_25_02_Pro.jpg

mock up of the 2nd tube
WP_20180522_14_46_31_Pro.jpg

test fit
WP_20180522_16_57_05_Pro.jpg

hole to link to the inlet of the elec pump
WP_20180522_17_03_57_Pro.jpg

blank added to stop water flowing thru the link tube
WP_20180522_17_04_26_Pro.jpg

installed
WP_20180522_17_41_44_Pro.jpg

its close to the manifold but i will have to add a heat shield
WP_20180522_17_46_07_Pro.jpg

tested the pump off a battery its noisy as the pipes in the silicon couplers are touching and i think its touching on the gearbox mount
at some point i will shorten the pipes so the pump has some dapening from the silicon couplers

not much done i did fit a heat shield to the water tube but after getting the engine running it set on fire ive taken it off and replaced it with a bit of alloy exhaust heat shield from the insignia
WP_20180526_17_38_01_Pro.jpg

very few settings changed in the aem ecu just set from 2.0 to 2.2 and it ran needed some fine tuning of the ignition offset with the timing light it started with 530* off set and then after getting the lamp on the crank pulley it zeroed in at 554*
