I always thought a panel filter is best even if the induction kit has a guard/box.

I placed a induction kit on mine, with a cold feed a few years ago and performance was pig poor! Went straight back to a panel filter and it was much better.

I have tried all three, open cone piperx, standard box with three pipe mod and panel filter and my current setup with a piper Viper.

Open cone was ok, but bogged down and soon seemed to get heat soak if stuck in traffic etc.

I have seen no loss of power with the viper over airbox, just get the bark around 3k with induction noise.

I don't think they do a Viper for the Z22SE but they are easy enough to modify and fit, or you could Venoms which come with reducers etc.

I've seen a few vipers on ebay but i am leaving getting any them kits for the moment as i am going to have a go at making a air box out of carbon fibre but before i start i need to find out a few things

i r been doing some reading the last few week what with being off work n all
i did find a really long forum post that was the complete description of getting the most out of your engine
it said all modifications intake side are pointless without exhaust mods 1st
i sort of believe it now as i fitted a k&n panel filter and vec c intake pipe with little gain till i had the straight thru center exhaust fitted then it was different (6bhp)
it did also say porting the intake on the head was pointless for the same reason as the ruff finish in the intake ports cause air disruption that helped fueling in the cylinder ??

i'll get me coat!! :)

im using a viper induction filter on my corsa c z22se, its from a cavalier 2.0 16v fits straight onto the astra g inlet pipe with a squeaze and some wd40.
gains from dbilas flow master are same as a panel filter in air box thats been modified as the flow master suffers from heat soak being cheep cast ally.

Was the flow master not very good then? Would have thought with the cost of them they should at least live up to their claims.

sold by that dodgy lot down on the southcoast, they only give claimed gains with a remap and a tweaked dyno plot.
